Rating: Summary: Excellent ready reference for cardiology! Review: This book is quite easily the best text I have seen in breaking down cardiology into easy to comprehend and absorb topics. As a cardiovascular technician, I have used this book on numerous occasions to either better understand a patient's pathological condition or to help me prepare lectures and classes. I feel it does an excellent job of compiling the necessary knowledge, while making it very readible. Other cardiology standards, such as Branwauld's and Hurst's may cover some topics better, but Lilly and Co. do a great job at summarizing each subject. My personnal favorites in this book are the chapters on murmurs and heart sounds, congenital heart defects, and cardiovascular pharmacology (the best review on this potentially mind-boggling topic I have seen). I most whole-heartedly (no pun intended) recommend this book for any and all who are involved in the field of cardiology. Makes a great desk reference and at a price that won't burn up your account.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for medical students Review: This book is the best cardiology text I have ever encountered for me (a medical student) to learn cardiac physiology and therapy as well as pathophysiology. I referred to it during all four years of medical school, and, now that I'm graduating and selling most of my preclinical books, it's one of only three that I'm not selling.
Rating: Summary: As good as a medical textbook gets! Review: This book is without a doubt the best book I have used in my two years of medical school. I was very impressed that every question that came to my mind was answered in the very next sentence. The book does a great job of making a complex topic very understandable. The EKG chapter was especially good.
Rating: Summary: AMAZING Review: To put it simply this book is the BEST cardiology book for any medical student wanting to really learn and understand the complex topics that can come up in the field. It breaks down all the topics in simple format and gives you the physiology before each chapter. Not to mention it has all the cardiac pharmacology that you will need to know now, for the boards and then some.
Rating: Summary: A must read book Review: Written by experts and new graduates it is very helpful. Every aspect of Heart diseases is explained. I enjoyed a lot explanations of ECG forms and reasons behind it. Unlike those books that says if you see such and such shape you have this or that. Every pathophysiology of hearth diseases is clearly explanied with simple explanations. Book does not say much about performance of the heart muscle as you probably have seen in physiology books but practical understanding is plentiful.
