Summary: The FISH! tank... Scaaaary!
Review: Actually, this is just a short review after my longer FISH! review, mostly because I found myself rather horrified after reading this "real world" application of FISH!

Imagine working in a call center in which people would come in dressed as pigs or chickens, or godz forbid, Elvis! You have disco balls rotating overhead, and music. You try to do your job, but you're pounded relentlessly by all this corporate-engineered "fun..." Urgh! Someone hands you a plastic fish or a paper fish, and then makes you go "fishing" for prizes.

Welcome to Job Hell! Run FAR FAR FAR away... This could be coming to a workplace near you.

And most of us would rather just have a decent paycheck, with a challenging intellectual environment in which to work. Amazing what happens when the Blanchards and Lundins of this world get into the mix. Disaster!

Summary: Breezey Shadow of "THE GOAL"
Review: I like this book. It is a quick read. Finished it and QBQ on one flight with a meal. If you read "THE GOAL", the format of this book will be similar. The author presents the material in the form of a novel. I suspect timelines and other issues are accelerated in the story line, poetic license, btu the illustration of the key points are good.

If you are looking to put fun into your work, and create a high energy, lively, customer focused work environment, this is a good book to remind you of the basics.

Summary: Review of CD
Review: The CD set is 3 hour
it has the feel of a bad Human Resource video on office rules.
It is read from scipts and sounds as such ....10 minutes into the First CD I ejected it from my Car's CD player.....
Even in a captive environment ......it got the "boot"

Summary: Integrating Fish and optimizing the workplace
Review: The Fish philosophy isn't new but the unique context and delightful presentation makes it effective. I got a lot out of this book because I saw how the concept is integrated into organizations. We have found that the best companion for the Fish philosophy is to train employees in Optimal Thinking. Optimal Thinking is the simple, realistic mental resource to empower individuals to be their best and bring out the best in others. I recommend both of these books.

Summary: Insightful!
Review: Things are going swimmingly in Fish! land. In the latest volume, Fish! Tales, authors Stephen C. Lundin, John Christensen, Harry Paul and Philip Strand build on the successful training program that evolved from their first Fish book. Tales shows how four companies - a long-distance call center; a hospital neural-renal unit, a car dealership and a roofing company - have applied Fish! theories effectively. They also provide short examples from other companies to show how well the Fish! function. The four main principles are familiar by now - keep the work fun, seek to serve others, stay focused on your customers and have an enthusiastic attitude - but the examples in the book bring them alive. Along the way, the authors heavily sell their Fish! courses and merchandise - that's just good salesmanship - but the real catch of the day is the final how-to section, showing ways to apply these principles in any organization. The lively writing style helps keep you hooked. We suggest that if you haven't yet caught any Fish!, start with this one. Its cheery, accessible methods should lure you in, hook, line and sinker.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: This book really gives the picture of how "Empoyees" can make a difference, given the chance! I suggest ALL managers ans supervisors read this and apply it. Making employees feel they are part of the solution and not the problem will change their whole attitude about themsleves and their company.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: While the message is a good one, it nearly gets lost in this very poorly written book.
