Rating: Summary: Simply superb and a model of its kind! Review: An absolutely exemplary textbook of its kind. It is as good a text on this subject for those with a post-graduate interest in this subject as you will find. The style of the written text skillfully balances the need for clarity with detail. Similarly the layout of the text in terms of presenting symptoms, lesional localisation, as well as broader aetiological categories is also attractive. I had previously been a reader of Victor & Adams but this is vastly superior in almost every way (clarity, academic depth, readability, up-to-dateness). It is simply a pleasure to read. The fact that it comes with a CD-ROM helping to illustrate certain points is just icing on the cake. If only all textbooks were as good as this.
Rating: Summary: OK, but the accompanying CD needs improvement Review: I bought this with excitement- the CD companion was a good selling point. However, I was unable to figure out a way to do a text search of the CD to match a topic of interest. Despite the fact it was published in 1999, many of the chapters appear dated. A web site, like that in the competing volume Neurology in Clinical Practice, would be helpful.
Rating: Summary: if you study? Review: if you study Neurology, i wish you can this book. this book help me many problem for Neurology... and can use CD-ROM title!
Rating: Summary: Average Book, OK for undergraduates. Review: Recently I had opportunity to go through this book. It is a good attempt to build up clinical correlationship. For postgraduate students of Internal medicine as well as of neurology, more details are needed. Quality of Videos in CD is average. One would be happier if full text is voiced (audio/sound)in CD. I think if these things are taken care of, next edition will be more useful.
Rating: Summary: Good general neuro reference Review: This is a good general neurology reference text, much like Adams and Victor. However, it is much easier to read than that other book. It is best suited for neuro residents. Goetz is a movement disorder specialist from Rush med in Chicago. His CD-ROM is an added bonus, especially all the videos, however it had some bugs. I'm not sure if this book is as complete as Adams and Victor, but I think it is a far better buy than NICP. Highly recommended.
