Summary: Some of the best advice available
Review: Although designed primarily for the direct-mail market, the principles and techniques of "The Ultimate Sales Letter" can be adapted and applied to a wide variety of situations. Kennedy covers all the important topics and techniques on how to write the letter so that it not only gets opened but read and acted on.

One of the most common mistakes a poor salesman makes is trying to sell a product based on features. This is totally ineffective when compared to selling based on the benefits the product will provide the customer. Kennedy does an excellent job of demonstrating the difference and how to write a sales letter that focuses on the benefits to a customer. The result is a highly effective letter.

Add to this the tricks of the trade, writing style, revision information and multitude of other tips that fill the book and you have one of the best books on writing sales letters that I have ever read. Well organized, well written, and easily understood, Kennedy takes you through a complete and repeateable process from concept to followup to sale that does not miss a beat. If you want a sales letter that can produce leads and then convert the leads to sales there is no better book on the market today.

Summary: The BEST book on sales letters.
Review: Dan Kennedy is a proactive businessman who practices what he teaches. His wisdom is easy to follow - but more than that it is right on! Because of him I know how to sell myself better, which has helped me to better serve others in my business.

Kennedy always covers all of the proactive bases: smart thinking, system thinking, futuristic thinking, and positive thinking. If you are truly seeking the kind of success and abundance that makes your life 100% livable - you must read this book. Many of his ideas are found in SUCCESS BOUND, another book built on learning how to live a proactively life that is God centered and fulfilling.

Everything that I have put into practice that Dan Kennedy has recommended in his books has worked. He has brought me success by focusing on what is important in selling and using my God given talents and my thinking ability to write better sales letters. Nearly every bit of our success starts in our minds including sales success. This book makes it very clear as to how to think in the right way so that your success is assured.

Summary: Dan Kennedy Reveals The Copywriting Secrets
Review: Dan takes you by the hand and shows you how to write a pretty darn good sales letter...even if you're a "green" novice. The book is full of hard-nosed, pull-no-punches solid advice from the trenches. I highly recommend it. In fact, Dan Kennedy has really helped my business. Actually, I recommend anything that Dan Kennedy creates, writes, and sells.

Applying what I learned from his courses allowed me to grow my "kitchen table" business into a nice six-figure a year income.

I like Dan Kennedy so much that I acquired a license to sell his "Magnetic Marketing" toolkit. It is highly recommended.

Summary: AN EXCELLENT BOOK
Review: From Joe Catal. Author of "Telesales Tip From The Trenches".

When my book came out I wanted to give seminars on how to sell by phone. I wasn't sure how to go about it, so I decided to do direct mailouts to local companies in my area.

The first letter I sent made me $1,500.
Dans right about people. 90% of us stand over a garbage can and look through our mail. My letters 4 pages long!
If they're not interested, wheter it's one page or twenty they won't read it. If they are interested, they'll read the entire letter no matter how many pages.

I can assure you, by using Dans methods, when someone calls you from one of his letters, he's a high probability prospect.
The letters are better than cold calling!
Buy the book, there's really no way you can fail.
You'll also find two books that go very good with Dans.
Words that Sell and Phrases that Sell.
You'll get thousands of ideas to help give your letter impact.
Buy the book, this guy knows his stuff.

Great job Dan!

Summary: Good for first-timers - not for those in the business
Review: Good stuff in this book. But not if you're a pro. This book contains basic concepts only. And even then, the concepts could be further explained if only Mr. Kennedy could have provided more examples of how to apply the concepts... then it'd be more useful.

Otherwise, if you've never written a sales letter before or never picked up a Direct Marketing Book, this one is a good place to start, like a direct mail writing 101 primer class.

Interesting point in the book: I never knew the envelope of a DM should be used to fool the postman into delivering your mailing instead of dumping it in the trash. Most others would say the OE has only one use, and that is to get your prospects to open and read the contents.

Summary: This is the Entrepreneuial Copywriter's Bible
Review: I read this book several years ago and I've gone on to read every book he's published since. The only thing wrong with the book is the title. Kennedy doen't use watered-down, full-of-fluff Madison Avenue techniques. He takes you by the hand and walks you through the copywriting process step-by-step. If you follow his advice and you're not afraid of being to direct or of making you're offer to strong you can end up with a sales letter that will keep the orders rolling in for years!

Summary: Keep this on your desk, not in your bookshelf
Review: The tips, techniques and learning in this "Ultimate" sales letter book are both easy to follow and adapt to any business.

I read this book, followed the principles and tactics and my next sales letter got a 24% response -- I'd love to write what very happy and excited things my client said about the result, but Amazon would censor his words! My client put his trust in my sales letter and I put my trust in Dan Kennedy's book and it brought me a predictably great result.

The "No BS" guides are also worth their weight in gold ... I would implore every sales writer to own at least the No BS sales book as well as this one for what Dan Kennedy offers.

Even for people non-US based, just about all of the book (except for the reflections on the US Postal service, which only cover 1 or 2 pages) is still relevant. The whole point is that while the specific examples in the book may not be your line of business, there is enough explained so that you can ADAPT the ideas to use yourself.

PS: While we share the same surname, I am not related to Dan Kennedy in any way!

Summary: Wonderfully Simple, Limited by My Own Imagination
Review: This book is an amazing resource for anyone who writes sales letters. I own a business that sells high dollar OD/HR consulting. I bought this book based upon the reviews it got from other readers and the title. At first, I was very disappointed because the book is really directed mostly at direct-mail, reach-out-and-grab-the-buyer type businesses with products or services for consumers. My target audience is much more sophisticated and specialized.

I put the book on my shelf until recently. I picked it up again, mostly forgetting what I didn't like about it the first time. I quickly remembered, but I kept looking for different and new ideas. I found them. All I needed to do was to open my mind and use my imagination on how I could incorporate the ideas he has and use them. The results were amazing! I realized I had limited myself because I was really looking for a letter I could simply copy and change. Once I dropped that attitude, my whole view of the book changed.

Also, the formula for writing a great sales letter is the same whether you are writing something like mine or other types of copy or sales letters...

I highly recommend buying this book. Use it in the right way and you will see results.
