Summary: Terrific book on how to USE your Marine SSB radio
Review: This is NOT a book to help you understand HOW a marine radio works. Rather, it is a book that helps you learn HOW TO USE your marine SSB radio and is written in easy to understand language. Most folks who are cruising or preparing to cruise (on a boat)need information on where to find net frequencies, weather and how to make phone calls through their Marine SSB radio. They don't need or want to learn about all of the technical aspects of how the HF radio works! Just how to use it to stay safe and informed about weather and the like. If they wanted to learn about the nuances of how HF radio works they would sell their boats and enroll in an engineering college. If you are a landlubber or a coastal day sailor without a marine SSB radio and no interest in cruising on a boat you won't have a clue about the value of this little gem--read the next review for a good example of a land lubber without a clue...
If you've just installed or are preparing to install a Marine SSB radio and go cruising on a boat and wish to learn how to use the radio then this is the book for you.

Summary: The most sensible one (book) we've read so far!
Review: We recently purchased your SSB book for the Bahamas, Cuba, Florida and Eastern Gulf of Mexico (even though we aren't going to be in those locations for awhile). We are trying to learn to use our SSB and your book has been the most sensible one that we've read so far!! You mention that you have other books underway for other locations and we are VERY interested in knowing how we could acquire them. We recently left Seattle are will begin our trip down the west coast to San Francisco tomorrow. Thanks for a great book and writing in terms us 'simple' folks can understand!
