Rating: Summary: Highly informative, helpful and "user friendly" - Review: A must have book for any small business owner. Full of useful, informative and easy to understand tax help. This book more than paid for itself less than a week after purchase.
Rating: Summary: Nice summary of tax law affecting different entities Review: Although not the most complete guide (IRS publications give more info for free), it is the first book I have seen which reviews the tax laws as they pertain to different entities - corporations, partnerships, LLCs etc.
Rating: Summary: A Great Buy Review: I am fan of the nolo.com website and I am a bigger fan of the Nolo Books. We started our software company as and LLC and turned it into a corporation a couple of years ago. I didn't buy this book before that point, but wish I did. Either way it is great that I have the book now. The book is well organized and I read through it cover to cover originaly. Tax Savvy now sits on my desk and I can use it as a quick reference. I am the kind of person that likes to know the "what, how and why" before I talk to our accountants or our lawyers, and this book enables me to do that. Bottom line... a must have

Rating: Summary: This Book Saved Me Review: I bought this book as soon as I was notified of an upcoming IRS audit. The sections on reconstructing logs and receipts really saved me. The auditor accepted everything that I reconstructed. I also knew exactly what to expect at the audit. I am now keeping my records in a way that leaves me unafraid of the IRS anymore. This book, along with Mr. Daily's "Stand Up To the IRS" is the best investment I have ever made in my small business.
Rating: Summary: Good Place to start on taxes for small business Review: I've read some of the other reviews and I agree to a certain extent that the author is general with some topics that he discusses. But in all due fairness, most professionals that write about their professions whether it may tax matters or law matters, can't possibly describe specific situation when writing a book for an audience that is looking for general matters. I believe they do so in a general fashion, in order to cover the major points listed to fit the majority of the issues and questions that would arise. If your situation needs a more specific answer or answers than what is discussed here, I would strongly consider consulting with a knowledgable and experienced attorney and/or accountant/CPA to discuss your sitiuation on a more specific basis. With that being said, this book is a good book if your just starting out, and you want to learn the taxation aspect of a business as far as what you must do according to the IRS and what you could do to lower your taxable income legally. Most new business owners might not be aware of these gold nuggets that are listed here in the book for you to take advantage of.
Rating: Summary: Just published in the Spring of 1998! Review: Knowing the ins and outs of the tax code is vital to the health of every small business. Virtually every decision a business makes has tax consequences that can affect its bottom line-and the IRS is always keeping watch. Fortunately, it is possible to run a profitable, honest business, minimize taxes and stay out of legal trouble-and tax-expert Attorney Fred Daily shows you how. He lays out year-round tax saving strategies for business owners that will show you how to: • claim all legitimate deductions • maximize fringe benefits • keep accurate records • document expenses • survive an audit: learn what to say-and what not to say This thoroughly revised third edition includes: • the new, more lenient rules for deducting home office expenses • the new capital gains tax rates • new information about limited liability companies • changes in the way businesses are selected for audits. "Another winner from Nolo Press..."--Jane Applegate, syndicated columnist
Rating: Summary: OK for novice, but short on depth Review: Nolo Press books are usually quite good: both helpful for beginners but also detailed enough to cover most of the most important and helpful points in depth. But this book lacks any depth to help you really learn anything beyond the basics. A lot of the material is general corporate information that has tax implications to various degrees but is often found in other Nolo small biz books (_Working for Yourself_ is a good one). Even the general JK Lasser Your Income Tax has more in depth tax information for small Schedule C biz owners.
Rating: Summary: Tax Savvy for Samll Business Review: Now that tax time is here, I have just discovered attorney Daly's "Tax Savvy" self-help book. It answers, or helps to answer, most of my tax questions and offers useful practical advice. It is well-organized, with topics easy to find and read, without any confusing legalese.
