Rating: Summary: Very good book on Construction Safety Management Review: If you are interested in Safety management and theory for constuction project this is the book. However, don't think that this is a text on actual safety regulations and standards. It does not cover what many people would consider the "nuts and bolts" of how to maintain a safe worksite. It does a very good job of covering management issues.
Rating: Summary: Best book on construction safety! Review: We used a pre-publication version of this book in a courseon construction safety that was taught at the University ofTexas by Professor Hinze himself. Hinze is the "guru" of construction safety, and there are few academic studies on construction safety in which he was not invloved. The book contains chapters on subcontractor safety, substance abuse, incentive programs, problem areas, safety meetings, safety programs, to name just a few (over 20 chapters in all). Hinze backs up everything in the book with research results. Much of this research was done by Hinze or others at the Construction Industry Institute. I recommend it highly as a textbook for courses on construction safety, or as a reference for safety officers, project managers, or supervisors who are working in industry.
