Rating: Summary: curriculum improvement Review: Discussion 6 I found the curriculum design book to be a very interesting and excellent book to read. It is a very well written book. The only thing I would wish for would be to use a more current text. So much information changes in the world of education. A book that is even two years old is out dated in this day and age. The other book on thematic teaching is alright and most likely great for K-12 teachers, but does not seem to be very useful to me at the college level.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Thematic Text Review: This is a wonderful book to assist in writing thematic units. It gives great examples, is easy to read, and is user friendly.
Rating: Summary: Curriculum Improvement Review Review: I found Doll's Curriculum Improvement typical of most text books, theory based, informative and written from a particular school of thought. I was put off however by his use of the term "slums" when referring to places that some of the disadvantaged live...Stereotypical language is inappropriate in a text book.....
Rating: Summary: Informative but a Challenge to Read Review: This text provides a wealth of knowledge on curriculum development, evaluation, and improvement. The information presented was very relevant and complete in regard to subject matter. The only criticism I have is that it often became difficult follow, and many times I needed to review sections to grasp the full meaning.
Rating: Summary: Doll makes connections Review: This book was easy to read, especially if you are currently a classroom teacher because connections could be readily made.
Rating: Summary: Never Received Review: Hi I am sorry that I have nothing good to say, but I never received the book. To this day I have yet to receive a book from anyone. The semester is over and I never got a book.Mitre
Rating: Summary: M.S. McCray Review: Curriculum Improvement by Ronald Doll I have to say that I did not enjoy this text. In the past I have been excited to read the chapters, but this book was on the contrary. The material was highly appropriate for the class and it included new trends and issue in curriculum. Yet, the chapters were extremely long and difficult to get through. Often times I had to read sections over a few times to fully understand what it was saying.
Rating: Summary: A Difficult Read Review: While this text provided curriculum information in great depth and breadth, I found the format overwhelming at times. I think this book presented too many details and too much information in each chapter. The situations are thought-provoking and helpful.
Rating: Summary: Curriculum Improvement: Decision Making and Process Review: The "Curriculum Improvement: Decision Making and Process" text by Doll, was insightful. It clarifies the different aspects of curriculum such as the developemental stages in life and cultural issues effecting development. Doll discusses what you should keep in mind as you write a curriculum.
Rating: Summary: Very Informative Review: This book is very informative about the curriculum process. It is well organized into specific chapters and topics. As a teacher, I enjoyed reading about the history of the curriculum process and how curriculum is constantly evolving.
