Rating: Summary: Curriculum Improvement, Decision Making and Process by Doll Review: I found the textbook to be useful in helping me make my thematic unit for the class I am taking. It has many useful ideas about the importance of preplanning and determining the outcomes of the unit before you plan the unit itself. It gives useful information about using computers and involving students in hands on activities as well to make sure the students are receiving the best lesson possible. It is a textbook though and I have found textbooks to be less motivating to me! I find myself not wanting to read them as much as a book that keeps me motivated and interested in the subject material. The size of the print was small too making it hard for me to read without having to put on my glasses. My opinion is that it is a book that can provide useful information when used to help develop units.

Rating: Summary: Very Good Graduate Level Book Review: This text was extremely well planned and put together in a logical and coherent manor. The book will help all levels of educators looking to either create a new curriculum or fine tune an existing one. The concepts within the book were at such a level that a new teacher could learn and not feel overwhelmed and an old pro could learn and find new ideas. I would highly recommend this text to all educators looking to keep their courses interesting.
Rating: Summary: review of curriculum improvement Review: Curriculum Improvement: Decision Making and Process by Ronald C. Doll This text was organized very efficiently. The chapters of the text were short and very informative, this made it user friendly. The sections of each chapter were set up so that reading could be done easily. Not only were the chapters very brief and informative the summaries provided great review. Also, the questions acted as great refreshers that insured comprehension. I will definitely use this text as a resource in the future.
Rating: Summary: CIT 505 assignment book review Review: This book was well written and easy to understand. It took you through the steps in curriculum development from the history of curriculum, the current trends in curriculum, and how to create your own curriculum (or what you need to develop that curriculum). The book provided several examples to clarify what ideas were being discussed and made the ideas easy to grasp.
Rating: Summary: Fairly Good Reading Review: The text was fairly good reading. Many of the points and ideas were interesting but not fabulous. I found the other assigned textbook to more helpful and informative. I feel I really could have completed the course without it.
Rating: Summary: Curriculum Improvement: 9th ed/ Doll Review: The text is well organized and includes a comprehensive preface and prologue to give the reader an overview of the content. The text is organized in two parts which made it very easy to follow. At the end of each chapter, there is a summary review which provides the major objectives at a glance and gives the reader a chance to verify the major components presented in that chapter. There were several activities in each chapter to assure the reader is understanding the material. The text presented recent useful information to apply to my current workplace.
Rating: Summary: Great resource for curriculum planners Review: The Doll text provides two main parts: deciding what the curriculum should be and the second part pertains to the process of improving the curriculum. There are rapid changes occurring in the curriculum field, this book provided the older, tested principles of practices of intelligent planning and balances that with the current philosophies of curriculum planners. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in curriculum planning and improvement.
Rating: Summary: Review of Curriculum Improvement Review: This book is filled with a wealth of knowledge beginning with the historical background of curriculum and ending with current trends in curriculum. This book is more suited to beginning educators who are just learning about curriculum.
