Rating: Summary: A Great Curriculum Book! Review: This was a useful book in regard to curriculum. The only major component of this book that I did not like was the length of the chapters. It was hard to sit and read one chapter at a time. I enjoy books where it the content is more broken up. However, in this book the author seemed to put a lot of material into one chapter, making it feel like the chapters ran together.

Rating: Summary: Curriculum Improvement: Decision Making a Process by Doll Review: Curriculum Improvement: Decision Making a Process by DollI found this book a little dry at times. The reading is very heavy and monotonous, especially in the chapters that dealt with the various historical and philosophical curriculum foundations. I have used this book in two different graduate courses at two different universities in two different states and l just hope that I never have to use it again.

Rating: Summary: Curriculum Improvement: Decision Making and Process (9th Edi Review: Curriculum Improvement: Decision Making and Process, by Ronald C. Doll thoroughly covers all aspects of curriculum design. Although, the text is geared more towards individuals planning to specialize in curriculum design, it does give the novice curriculum planner a basis in which to plan design and implement curriculum in a thoughtful and meaningful manner. Whether one is a novice or a specialist attempting to plan and design curriculum, I would highly recommend this text as a starting point for this endeavor.
Rating: Summary: Traditional Curriculum Design Review: Doll's book is an informational book for students and administrators. It contains updated ideas to organize an educational institution. The ideas are helpful because they discuss the good and bad things about designing curriculum.
Rating: Summary: Administrator's Resource Review: Curriculum Improvement, by Ronald C. Doll, has a tremendous amount of information about the process involved in examining and revising curriculum. The book is a textbook through and through-the reading can be quite dry-and Doll has a tendency to interject personal opinion into his writing less subtly than what one "typically" finds in textbooks, but the opinions are not at the expense of useful information. With the advent of "No Child Left Behind" legislation, curriculum is sure to become a "hot topic" in many districts as they strive to make adequate yearly progress. Curriculum Improvement contains suggestions on how to approach curriculum revision. Administrators will find it to be a useful reference.
