Rating: Summary: Good book for on the go... Review: If you like Tom Peters you'll find nothing new, but I liked this book. I am reading on the 'project 50' now, what I like is the small size. If your on the go you can easily take this book along, either on the metro, or on a cross country flight. A good reminder to leave it out on your desk to keep a fresh outlook on the daily drudge or rather to prevent it from becoming a drudge.
Rating: Summary: This Book is "WOW"! Review: In this age of brand management, we should be managing our own brands to be successful in public or private life, Tom argues in this book, which is full of stimulating advice for everyone. I recommend this book especially for white-collar workers who think they ought to improve the way their work is done.
Rating: Summary: Self-management paradigm for the 21st century! Review: This insightful, inspiring, and assertive book provides an extremely useful paradigm for self-management in an age where corporate loyalty is diminishing, jobs are being replaced by projects, and empowered employees/managers have to "kick it up a few notches" to survive. Whether it is "Brand You" or "Inc. You," this is must reading!
Rating: Summary: Wacky, irreverent, and insightful... Review: As a business communications speaker and lifelong student I characterize this one as Sales and Marketing because it is completely and totally about selling yourself through proper self-positioning in whatever marketplace that you operate. Typical Peters, weird graphical text layout and dynamic writing have you hearing Tom bounce off the walls with enthusiasm, providing valuable ideas and attitudes on the most important product going--YOU! Live with the weird writing style if it bothers you, because the ideas are sound.
Rating: Summary: THE BRAND YOU 50 PURCHASE DECISION Review: Well, I just HAD to buy it! The idea of treating myself as a brand (by no means new) was so delectable. Brands are so stereotypical....was I a superbrand? I might learn something...then.... I thought well, he's a guru, and in his last book I seem to recall 30 of the 50 companies he raved about were in trouble five years later! However, the cover, and the promise of a brand new me, finally won out. It was time to relook at my positioning statement and investigate parallel markets - Marketeer, market thyself! Nice one Tom. Really original and completely lacking in the usual pseudo-dirge of self-help books.
Rating: Summary: QUICK, EXCITING, ENERGIZING READ! Review: I absolutely loved this book - I am buying the whole series! A great little book - very handy to take to the Gym - it even made me peddle faster! 100's of BIG ideas how to fully express yourself through your work - everyone who is concerned about personal impressions, impact and expressing yourself through your work needs this book in their library!
Rating: Summary: It's your attitude change it or perish! Review: "In Search Of Excellence" taught us the enemy was not new technology nor was it the competition be it foreign or domestic. The enemy was our perception & our attitude! Now there is a new front closer to home. Business is rapidly evolving companies and careers are not what they used to be. Global E-commerce E-everything and dotcom this and email that is here.....for everyone! Uncertain of how to take on this new enemy? Tom Peters once again points out the obvious. It is time for a change. Your attitude and perception of what has always been.....once again needs overhauled. WOW
Rating: Summary: This is a dangerous book... Review: ...if you're serious about personal and professional growth. In his typically no-holds-barred style, Tom Peters scores with 50 (plus) strategies for breaking the shackles of faceless employee-dom and turning you into a rock 'em, sock 'em mini-firm --complete with personal "brand" and a passion for constant renewal. ...if you feel discouraged in today's business culture. With down-to-earth, "I can do that" tactical suggestions, Peters relentlessy lifts your hopes and revives the dreams long suppressed by "corporate." Like his "live" lectures, you'll feel like you just attended a revival meeting. ...if you're looking for more than your job offers. The 50 strategies get your juices flowing, help you diagnose your current position, and plan for the future. The chapters may be bite-sized, but they provide more than enough food for thought and reflection. Read it with savor. ...because it can change your life! This book played a key role helping me decide to quit my job and reach for what I really want to do. Read at your own risk!
Rating: Summary: Do not think twice! Buy this book (and the Project50) Review: This set of 3 books by Peters (Brand You50, Project50, ProfessionalServices Firm50) has changed the way I think about my work, job, and career for ever. Every time I read a few pages, I go back to work with a passion and a commitment for and to WOW! that I never thought existed in me. Tom Peters has changed my world for the better. They are worth the money even if you just read one page.
