Rating: Summary: Exploring Corporate Strategy- worth a look into Review: Good book with a wide coverage of topics. Considering how boring the subject actually is, the authors do a good job of making it vaugely interesting.
Rating: Summary: Sections on Strategy Implementation are excellent Review: I have not read the whole book, just the sections on Strategy Implementation. These are excellent and cover all of the pertinant types - functional, matrix etc. Our IT department is going through the traditional Devloved/Central/Hybrid review and coverage of this is excellent.Note - I am not in a position to critise or evaluate against current, leading edge thinking - I am in the process of studying for an MBA, I'm not a lecturer in a business school.
Rating: Summary: the grammar of the book is very confusing, unclear Review: The book is very useful for all scholars as well as professionals. This book is an excellent reference and I am happy to have it in my home library. I will be having an exam on Strategic Management on Wednesday 08/08/2001 at 17:00 PM Saudi Arabia Time. Part of the exam will be on the Pharmaceutical Industry Case Study in the book. Would you help me in this regard? Would you send me a brief about the case and how it is applicable in regard to Five Forces and Business Environment? Thank you very much.

Rating: Summary: both a basic and sophisticated book Review: This book has been used by 600000 students worldwide. It is a well balanced book which both covers the basics of strategic managment and the more sophisticated areas using three lenses - which are different ways of seeing strategy. It is well structured and easy to dip into. The cases are varied and international. I use this book as a core text book in undergraduate and Masters courses on Strategy. I have contributed to it so could be considered as biased but I do not receive any money for increased circulation.
Rating: Summary: Exploring Corporate Strategy- worth a look into Review: This book is supposed to give an informative view on Strategy. It doesn't. It is difficult to read and follow, and is poorly structured. It is also very very confusing and often contradicts itself. There are far better books / writers on strategy - try the writers Lynch and Grant for a more informative view on strategy.

Rating: Summary: An excellent introduction to Strategic Management Review: This is one of my favourite strategy texts. At first, I found this book fairly heavy reading. However, once I got deeper into the subject, I found it very useful (especially when I was studying for an MBA). I believe that the text provides the reader with a good grounding on strategic principles on which to build more specialist knowledge of the subject. The text covers all the key steps of strategy development including analysis, selection and implementation. For each step, Johnson and Scholes also provides a number of techniques (including, PEST analysis, Porter's Diamond, Porter's Five Forces, Value Chain analysis, SWOT, Cultural Web, etc).
Rating: Summary: the grammar of the book is very confusing, unclear Review: we have to study this book (unfortunately) for Strategic Management which I see very unnecessary for 3rd year in Tourism Management. the book sucks! the sentences are not good structured and some subjects are not clear. i wouldn't recommend this book to anybody. I like to read books written by American authors.
