Summary: One of the Clearest Primers On The Business of PR
Review: As a reporter for nearly 15 years, I've dealt with literally thousands of PR people. Richard Laermer stands out from the pack because of his brilliance in knowing how to make news (as opposed to the empty-headed, clueless pitches reporters often have to fend off). Furthermore, what endears Laermer to reporters is his keen perceptiveness, wit, honesty and integrity -- all of which are on full display in this book.

When I decided to get into PR a few months ago, I read "Full Frontal PR" hoping to get a few tips here and there. It was an eye-opening experience. Two full semester of marketing couldn't compare to the insight Laermer and co-author Michael Prichinello include in this book. I've since gone on to serve as a PR consultant to two advertising agencies and have happily adapted the advice imparted in this book to make me look like a genius!

So before you decide to drop $300 on a public relations course, pick up this book first and you'll feel as if you've received a master's degree in marketing.

And for those myriad PR people who I've dealt with over the years as a reporter, I recommend that you brush up on your professional skills and get this book as well!

Summary: The One Book I Use
Review: As a small business owner, I've found some very good advice here. The tips on how to follow up on publicity were especially helpful. I also like the clever ways to keep in touch with local press.
I have passed the book on to at least three other business women friends. Btw, the one who offered highest praise is a PR person. But all were pleased to get the info and one bought it for her daughter---yet another small business woman.
It IS a job to promote yourself/your business, but it needs to be done. And, with the advice herein, it works!

Summary: Unspinning the Spinner
Review: At once breezy and smart, Full Frontal is a great tutorial for the "great unwashed" and a must read for the busy CEO who wonders why his/her latest PR initiative isn't driving up the business. Laermer & Prichinello unspin the spinners, giving numerous examples of what's important and not-so-important in creating good public relations.

Success requires more than a well-framed MBA on the office wall. No one should attempt going into business without a comprehensive understanding PR, promotion and marketing. This is a must-read for entrepreneurs, be they novice or veteran.

Summary: Dead on, a great read!
Review: Explains, demystifies and informs those of us outside the PR realm. Examples that crossover from the "coastal" folks (NY & LA) to regular folks, and information valuable to anyone looking to understand this once considered "black art."

Summary: Learn how it's done
Review: From someone in the biz...I found this book full of helpful hints and reminders. Laermer's years of experience come through in a book that is useful for the pro as well as the business owner who looks at a great product and wonders why no one knows about it.

Despite being packed with practical tips, this book is actually a quick read...full of interesting stories and personal anecdotes from the CEO of RLM Public Relations. My copy is dog-eared and underlined. It's one of the few books that has earned valuable space on my desk.

Summary: A Must Read for Anyone Needing DIY PR
Review: FULL FRONTAL PR is a fully accessible book for the average reader and a must read for every independent film-maker, musician, community group, small business...who's got more dash than cash and needs to break through the clutter to get their message out. Although much more polished and sophisticated, the spirit, if you will, of FFP sort of reminds me of Abby Hoffmans's "Steal This Book" -- it's radical in this day to even think of challenging the big guys and conglomerates and Laermer and Prichinello not only encourage us to go for it, they show us exactly how to do it. Seditious writing is rarely this fun!

Summary: Very very good, but....
Review: Full Frontal PR is a great book for any novice business-owner or budding PR professional to get a baseline on how the successful PR execs perform their job. I don't quite buy the argument that the book is the only resource one would need because there is a ton of information thrown at you and it's difficult to absorb all at once - a human element seems to still be essential. That being said, it does provide excellent insights into public relations and the resource information is invaluable. It's also a bit daunting to realize how much is actually involved, but that's the whole point of the book. You can't just send out a press release and wait for people to come beating down your door. It just won't happen that way.

This book should take up permanent residence in your briefcase/backpack/duffel bag/etc. for a handy reference when needed. I only deduct a star because I thought the chapters could have been organized and laid out a little better.

Summary: Now I know how PR can help my bussiness
Review: Full Frontal PR.... Is the first book Dealing with PR that I found helpful in my professional career. It showed me how to gain and use PR to my advantage and more important to the advantage of my bussiness. It taught me how to get people to talk about me and what I am selling. Sell yourself than your product.
This book made understanding PR simple, fun and concise.
Thanks Richard Laermer for helping me increase my profits.

Summary: Full Frontal all the way!
Review: Full frontal was less like a guide and more like a conversation. It kept me wanting more and actually cracking a few smiles now and then. I really learned why people need PR. Taking media exposure to the next level shows that Richard and Michael really know what they're talking about. I am just starting out in the PR field and feel like I am more confident with approaching reporters and producers after reading this.
