Summary: Good Resource Material
Review: I found this book to be a very good resource for water system hydraulics. It is comprehensive and written in a way that is easy to understand. I would recommend this book not only to engineering students but also to practicing professionals who are involved with water systems.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: First choice reference for water distribution applications
Review: This is one of the most comprehensive resources I have found when searching for information on water distribution modeling. I have previously used several other references for issues relating to water distribution, but none of them did as good of a job of presenting the theory, procedures, and practical applications. And as a bonus, Haestad has incorporated a way to earn Professional Development CEU's just by completing the problems at the end of each section. This is definitely my first choice as a reference for me as well as the younger engineers in my firm when dealing with water distribution applications.

Summary: water distribution systems
Review: If your work involves moving water or any other non-compressible fluid through a distribution system, I recommend that you read this book. Although covering a fairly technical and complex subject, the authors present their information in a very readable and understandable manner. A valuable addition to your technical library.

Summary: WATER DISTRIBUTION MODELING A MUST HAVE
Review: THE BOOK WAS WELL WRITTEN. IT IS A REAL HOW TO ON HOW TO DESIGN AND MODEL WATER SYSTEMS. IT ALSO HAS ENOUGH THEORY, FORMULAS AND METHODS TO UNDERSTAND AND PERFORM THE CALCULATIONS NECESSARY, BUT IT IS NOT SO TECHNICAL THAT IT IS HARD TO USE OR TO UNDERSTAND. IT IS A REAL MUST FOR ANYBODY THAT WHO WATER SYSTEM DESIGN OR REVIEW. I AM LOOKING FORWARD NOW TO OTHER BOOKS BEING WRITTEN BY HAESTADS. THE STRAIGHT FORWARDNESS IN WRITING IS A REAL PLEASURE, SOMETHING MISSED IN SO MANY OTHER ENGINEERING TEXTS.

Summary: The best modeling book I've read!!
Review: "Water Distribution Modeling" is the most comprehensive books on this subject that I've ever read.

It starts off with the basics and proceeds to cover every aspect of water system modeling, including quality modeling. As a plus, the book comes with an academic version of Haestad Methods water modeling software. Those of you who fought with the original Kentucky Pipe program will find this software a dream come true.

Another advantage is that it interfaces directly and seamlessly with ArcView GIS software. If you already have your water system in a GIS you can import it directly into the modeling program, run your analysis, and export the results back to ArcView. My only complaint is that neither the book nor the software tells you that you need a "node attribute table" to make it work.

All in all, this is a great book. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in water distribution system modeling.

Summary: Water Distribution Modeling at it's best.
Review: Thank you Haestad for such a technical and well-defined water modeling book. This book has been the backbone of my reference text in my profession and I take my hat off to you and your dedicated staff of engineers for such a structured and informative book. Keep up the excellent work.

Summary: A Great Refresher Course
Review: Extremely useful for engineers and other design professionals involved water distribution modeling. In addition to being very useful for WaterCAD users, the book is a great refresher for modeling theory, and provides useful information pertaining to some practical aspects of water supply distribution systems (e.g. master planning, hydrant flow testing, peaking factors, etc. pumps, etc.).

Summary: Water Distribution Modeling by Haestad Methods
Review: A technical book that is written in a very easy to read manner. The information needed to understand the rationale behind the modeling is presented as well as how to represent physical features in a seamless fashion. This is the best book I've seen on water system modelling.

Summary: Water Distribution Modeling
Review: Dr. Walski and his co-authors have produced a thorough work on water distribution system modeling and hydraulics.

In addition to the theory and practical application of hydraulics to distribution networks, there is specialized information on a wide variety of related topics such as sprinkler system design, hydrant testing, pump applications, and troubleshooting low pressure problems.

Any engineering consultant or utility operator that deals with water distribution system evaluation, planning or operation should have this book. Our engineers that perform computer aided hydraulics using Haestad Method's WaterCad will find this a valuable resource.

Summary: E. Caliva, Civil Engineer
Review: As a junior level engineer working on numerous hydraulic modeling projects, I found this book to be very useful. Not only does it cover basic hydraulics and hyraulic modeling concepts, it offers valuable tips on the construction, operation, and analysis of the model and model results. I recommend this book to anyone (professionals and students) looking for a comprehensive water distribution modeling text.
