Rating: Summary: Water Distribution Modeling by Haestad Methods Review: I am a retired Civil Engineer living in Mexico and I find it very difficult to get the CUE's that I need to keep my licenses current. I have taken the StormCad and SewerCad courses and find that the "Water Distribution Modeling" continues in that mold of good experience and knowledge. All of the courses use the deck top computer and software which introduces increased awareness of the capabilites. I found the first chapters a bit basic, but then the book moved on to more practicle matters. I also found the publication that Haestad has started called "Current Methods" very helpful and interesting.
Rating: Summary: Water Distribution Modeling Review: I have found the book very useful at my work in water distribution systems design. It is easy to understand and contains a wealth of information.
Rating: Summary: More than a good reference manual Review: More than a good reference manual - also a great resource for many water distribution issues. I find it very useful.
Rating: Summary: A must for the desktop Review: I was amazed at how well it was written and the readability is unsurpassed. I recommend the book for all, even those that are not involved in water modeling on a day to day basis, an excellent reference to have when needed.
Rating: Summary: Water Distribution Modeling Review: Must have for a practicing engineer invovled in water distrubution. Valuable information well presented.
Rating: Summary: Water Distribution Modeling Review: A good book discussion many important facets of Water Distribution Modeling. For in-depth aspects advanced Water Distribution Modeling may be a better choice. Both are written by the formost authorities in the subject. Therefore they are good choices for your reference library.
Rating: Summary: Single Best Modeling Reference Book Review: I'm a design engineer by profession and found this book to be the single best reference book on water system modeling I've read. Not only is the book comprehensive in it's coverage of the development, calibration and maintenance of a water system model, it discusses how the model can be used to optimize the operation and maintenance of a water distribution system. The book is an "easy read" for a technical publication. It includes lots of diagrams, tables, charts, photos and even a few cartoons. I appreciated the fact that when equations are shown all variables are identified, no flipping to back pages to get a listing of abreviations and symbols. I would recommend this book to all engineering professionals and water system operators.
Rating: Summary: Water Distribution Modeling Review: It's a great book. It more than does justice to its title by thoroughly explaining how and why a water distribution system works including the effects of various components and conditions. The book is clearly written, comprehensive, readable, and understandable. The only thing missing is the gobbledygook sometimes unfortunately found in technical texts. And the occasional cartoons do elicit an appreciated chuckle. Thanks very much for this extremely valuable book.
Rating: Summary: It's a time-saver Review: Many may think that the Water Distribution Modeling by Haestad is written mainly for the WaterCAD modelers to improve their skills. That was our original intension for purchasing too. To our surprise, besides meeting our original expectation, this book facilitates our water distribution system analysis and design, as well as serving as concise reference for certain important yet not frequently encountered topics. Although the information for topics such as approximating sprinkler hydraulics, fire flow tests and the potential problems, operation related problems and solutions, ways to model backflow preventers etc. could all be found somewhere, this book managed to gather together the data and the relevant theories and tips that would meet most of our design and modeling needs, so that we don't have to struggle for them. The contents and examples in the book are well arranged, with brief and clear explanation. No doubt it is a time-saver for designers, modelers and those who need the information.
Rating: Summary: The Art of Water Distribution Modeling Review: Water Distribution Modeling, by Haestad Methods is a powerfull tool and a reference workbook for all professionals in the area of Water Distribution. From the basic hydraulic knowledge, the techniques and modeling paradigms, to the practical examples, all items are very well explained, in a clear and practical way. The extra, WaterCAD Software, let us experience, in a pratical and simple way, to solve all the exercises we experience through in the book.
