Rating: Summary: Door to Door Review: Mr. Hopkins is a master salesman, however his ideas are a little dated. I prefer selections from Stephan Schiffman, specifically his books on cold calling and closing. I do not want to make light of the professional accomplishments and success of Tom Hopkins - we should all be so successful. I just believe there are better books on selling, which will teach you better and more modern techniques.
Rating: Summary: Okay - but there are better ones today. Review: Mr. Hopkins is a master salesman, however his ideas are a little dated. Rating: Summary: This is the book for big sales results Review: No wonder Tom Hopkins is the most succesful sales trainer in the US. He not only knows how to close big sales, but better yet, he knows how to teach you to become a sales top performer. Buy this book, follow Tom's teachings with strong discipline and you are bound for strong sales results. I garantee you that from my own sales records after I read and implemented Tom's closes and other techniques.
Rating: Summary: The only sales book that you need Review: Over the last ten years I have passed this book to friends and employees around the world. Every single individual who has read it has declared it as the best book ever written on professional selling. If only schools would introduce it as part of their curriculum.
Rating: Summary: Hard to sift through the lip service and bla bla Review: Perhaps it is because I'm a database consultant and have grown accoustomed to technical manuals, but this book seemed like a big pile of salesman bs. Granted, it explained good techniques for selling; it was just hard to stay awake through all the extra blah to get to the meat.
Rating: Summary: If you cannot sell, you cannot succeed.... Review: Rarely have I come accross a book so passionately written about the subject. Not does Tom highly succeed in explaining the art of selling, but also outlines the very important aspects of psychology (notable fear of failure). He covers beautifully the basics of time management (in line with 80/20 or Steven Covey). Champions are made, not born!
Rating: Summary: Old but NOT completely useless Review: Reading the reviews are more interesting than the book itself.
There are some rather useful tools found in the book itself, even though there are many people who have tried or read the contents of the book. Normally it's the tool users themselves that failed to deliver.
The tools in this book has been expose to many people. But like the english language which has been used globally for generations long before my existance. Not everyone has a good command over them.
Some principals of the trade never change, it might appear different, but it's still the same in the core.
Rating: Summary: Want to work half the time for twice the money? Review: That question just steered you in the direction you already wanted to go. It helped you jump over any hurdle you created in your mind as to whether this book is worth the investment. If you answered "yes", do you want to buy this book yesterday or today? If you answered,"no", I have some beautiful swap land in Florida for sale. There are good investments (other sales books), then there is a phenomenal investment,"The Art of Selling Anything" by Tom Hopkins. There is only one investment better then this book: The collection of tapes that go along with it (order from the back of the book). Yes, the tapes are expensive, so if you are on a tight budget, ask yourself this question. Is it worth eating macaroni and cheese for a few months in order to have enough income to buy gourmet meals for the rest of your life?
Rating: Summary: Contains hard skills to close the deal. Review: This book contains hard skills to close the deal. It is essential reading for any sales person within any market. It is also essential for anyone with a "marketing" title (one of the 4 "P's" of the marketing mix is placement (sales)). A marketing person who can't sell can't write persuasive copy and can't sell his ideas or marketing plans. This is good for OEM, getting financing (CEO's), direct sales, presentations, and disarming salespeople (good for all consumers). It contains the language of selling. Rated #8 in the "Chanimal" Top Ten.
Rating: Summary: SIMPLY THE BEST! Review: THIS BOOK IS THE BEST GO BACK TO BOOK YOU WILL EVER READ. NO MATTER WHAT SKILL LEVEL YOU ARE AT. THIS BOOK WILL RAIZE THAT LEVEL TO THE NEXT. I USED TO CALL IT MY BIBLE, AND I WOULD GO BACK TO IT FROM TIME TO TIME, JUST TO REVIEW THINGS. EVER HEARD GO BACK TO THE BASICS THIS IS WHAT THEY MEET. SIMPLY THE BEST! THANKS TOM ! FOR MAKING ALL MY DREAMS COME TRUE.....
