Rating: Summary: Value Investing is the clear winner -- ask any CFA! Review: Contrary to what the other reviews on this page suggest, value investing is the clear winner over growth. Don't listen to one or two readers who lost money over a few months. Take the long view. Though you may not get rich quick reading this book, you will coming away with a richer understanding of how to read financial statements in terms of what drives value.
Rating: Summary: FREE CASH FLOW WORKS AGAIN- ASK WARREN BUFFET Review: Ever wonder what Warren Buffet's companies all have in common- they are all wonderfull producers of Free Cash Flow.
Rating: Summary: I am very disappointed with this book!! Review: I am very disappointed with the investment advice and methodology as recommended in this book. A friend recommended I read it and I tried following the Free Cash Flow philosophy as espoused by Mr Hackel. I lost money! Buy growth stocks - in the long run you will make a lot more money in the market with growth stocks than with Free Cash Flow Security Analysis.
Rating: Summary: I'VE AVERAGED 27% PER YEAR DUE TO THIS BOOK Review: I BOUGHT THIS BOOK 5 YEARS AGO. WHILE I MISSED OUT ON MANY STOCKS THAT DOUBLED, I ALSO ESCAPED STOCKS THAT FELL IN HALF-OR MORE. I HAVE TURNED IN VERY CONSISTANT RETURNS OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME-WHAT'S WRONG WITH 27% PER YEAR?
Rating: Summary: I've made 33% a year by buying growth stocks! Review: I buy growth stocks - not small to mid-cap deep value basic industry cyclicals. Buy Growth not Value! FREE CASH FLOW ANALYSIS DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE!
Rating: Summary: Terrible Book - I lost Money! Review: I lost money following the investment advice in this book - DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Not Helpful Review: I re-read sections of this book on cash flow analysis and found it much less useful than 5 years ago when I read the first edition. The market does not care anymore about smaller high free cash flow and low debt companies.
Rating: Summary: Best Investing Book I Have Ever Read Review: I'VE COMPLETELY AVOIDED THE INTERNET HIGHFLYERS-THEY DON'T GENERATE FREE CASH FLOW. ON THE OTHER HAND THE BOOK PUT ME INTO COMPANIES WHOSE UNDERVALUED STOCKS QUICKLY TURNED AROUND WITH THERE LOW DEBT HIGH FREE CASH FLOW. I PARTICULARLY LIKED THE WAY THE AUTHORS LOOK AT CORPORATE FAT
Rating: Summary: UP 45% LAST YEAR THANKS TO THIS BOOK!! Review: I'VE COMPLETELY AVOIDED THE INTERNET HIGHFLYERS-THEY DON'T GENERATE FREE CASH FLOW. ON THE OTHER HAND THE BOOK PUT ME INTO COMPANIES WHOSE UNDERVALUED STOCKS QUICKLY TURNED AROUND WITH THERE LOW DEBT HIGH FREE CASH FLOW. I PARTICULARLY LIKED THE WAY THE AUTHORS LOOK AT CORPORATE FAT
Rating: Summary: Reasonable explanation on fundamentals; no great insights Review: If you don't understand corporate accounts, or don't read beyond the corporate Profit & Loss account, then this book might be worth a look, especially in light of the various accounting shenanigans of the last few years. Cashflow is a less precise but more realistic way to measure corporate earnings than the hopelessly etheral and flexibly-defined "profit" of US GAAP - and this book explains it for you. However, it does not contain much of use for more experienced investors, and the techniques contained will not make money in isolation.
