Rating: Summary: Excellent and practical book Review: Es un libro excelente y muy practico, de necesaria presencia en la biblioteca de un modelador de sistemas de Agua Potable.
Rating: Summary: An essential resource! Review: This is an excellent manual filled with all kinds of goodies flavoured with dollops of humour. The enclosed academic version of WaterCAD software is the cherry on top.Top guys have written the chapters which cover all the basics as well as advanced topics. The subjects are also well-referenced for further research. No water engineer should be without it!
Rating: Summary: Essential hydraulic modelling text Review: This easy-reading text has been written to reach all levels of hydraulic engineering practitioners. When you look at the diversity of the topics covered, it really is suprising that the content fits into a single volume. I found the text to cover a wide subject range, giving the reader a good understanding of the concepts, rather than a highly technical interrogation of just a few topics. It is also fantastic to see the text is not software-specific. The cartoons are great ,too!
Rating: Summary: Must-have Review: This is a must-have reference and handbook for civil engineers doing water modeling and design. You do not need Haestad's WaterCAD. However, it does come with a CD with a 25-pipe academic version of WaterCAD. With both theory and practical examples, it's an excellent learning tool. You can also earn CEUs via mini-exams that you send to Haestad (with a fee) for grading. Go to www.haestad.com and you can find the same book on-line - for free! However, it's worth buying the book.
Rating: Summary: The bible of the water distribution and management field Review: This is the bible of the water distribution and management field. It is unique and comprehensive and both experts and beginners who work in the water distribution and management field should read it. We have got this book in our technical library, but I always keep my own copy with me because it makes my day-to-day life easy.
Rating: Summary: Hydraulic Modeling & GIS must have... Review: Haestad Methods Advanced Water Distribution System Modeling and Management does a great job at explaining hydraulic model theory, assembly, calibration, and operational uses as they pertain to pressurized water distribution system design, analysis, operation, security, and answering 'what if...' questions. Starting with a great introduction, to model creation, to calibration, to SCADA integration, and the future of hydraulic modeling as it integrates with GIS, Haestad pulls together a wealth of theory, background information, history, and real world applications for the student or engineering professional. Working for a water distribution municipality, I find myself and my colleagues repeatedly referring to and referencing both this book, and its predecessor, Water Distribution Modeling, which also sees frequent use in the office.
Rating: Summary: Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management, 1st Ed Review: This book is a recommended academic reference tool for all civil engineers and designers. I have used this book and the Heastead pipe software included to review hydraulic data from previous models run with much success. The text appears to be comprehnsive and covers the most important topics in designing a water distrubition model.
Rating: Summary: The Choice for Water Systems Engineers Review: Advanced Water Distribution System Modeling and Management is the book which I found as the most useful for water system engineers. I am proud to state that it is an excellent reference not only for engineers but also in the world of academia. My students like the book as much as I do.
Rating: Summary: Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management Review: Once again, Haestad Methods has produced another outstanding tool for the members of the utilities world to use. "Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management" couples the best of the theory side of water distribution and management along with the all important practical and "in the trenches" know-how. My copy never sees the bookshelf. It occupies a place of constant use on the desk. A must have for the engineer to the guys turning wrenches in the field.
Rating: Summary: Must have book for water modelers Review: "Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management" from Haestad Press is an excellent text that covers just about every topic on hydraulic modeling. Whenever I encounter a problem it's the first book I turn to for answers. It starts with the theory of modeling and will walk you through each step from building and calibrating your model to operating it for best results. I especially appreciated the section on transients as I find most books do not do this topic justice. This is a comprehensive reference book that is also easy to read and I highly recommend it to anyone involved in the water distribution field.
