Rating: Summary: A water distribution must Review: The book resumes most of what I need for water network modelling, from the basics to all usual applications in engineering practice. Though it has been edited by a software company, it is not strictly software dependent, so you can apply the knowledge to your own methodology. The surprise for me is that it is not essentially a modelling book, though it is: it a book about water networks hydraulics, and I think that is the best compliment I can do. When you are working in water network modelling, the easy part is to manage the software, what makes the difference is being able to understand the hydraulic system and transform it to a model.
Rating: Summary: AWDM, an academic tool Review: Haestad has developed an interesting academic tool, that has been useful like a guideline for teaching basic hydraulics and forming technical personnel into some acqueduct operating companies. The topics included are treated deeply but simply because are supported with good graphs and tables that enables you to increase your understanding. Rating: Summary: Unparalleled Review: The previous edition "Water Distribution Modeling" had remained unparalleled untill "Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management" appeared. It is amazing how this book has became my single source for reference materials on topics from hydraulics basic theory to advanced methodologies. The work is very useful for consultants, waterworks designers and operators. Working for an engineering firm I have to deal with the assessment of existent water distribution systems as well as new developments, and I always find tips and hints on technics for network skeltonization, demands alocation, water quality modeling, pump performance tests, etc. just to name a few ones.
Rating: Summary: Very usefull Review: This book helped me to take better and decisive actions about my daily professional work and my teaching lessons of hydrauilics buildings.
Rating: Summary: For a Water Pro - Not for Newbies Review: This book is a bit overwhelming at first - both size and complexity. However, it needs to be in order to thoroughly cover the topic. Someone familiar with the field will find it useful and informative - and even fun to read at times. A novice or student reader may bog down in some of the topics and with some of the detail. It is a comprehensive treatment of water distribution modeling, planning and operations.
Rating: Summary: Good reference Review: This an excellent book to use a a reference. It is writen in a simple, straight forward manner and is easy to follow. It does a good job of explaining the suybjects.
