Rating: Summary: Excellent ! Review: I think it is very good for advanced as well as stater users of the model. It gives the basics regarding theory along with some excellent tips for modeling.
Rating: Summary: YOU SHOULD AND MUST READ IT!!!!!! Review: YOU JUST HAVE TO READ IT!!!!!! it's really great for water distribution's planner. I've never seen such like that!!! I have no other words to say that, except : YOU JUST HAVE TO READ IT!!!no pain no gain, but you'll never regret anything for it because you're already get something for your own good, for your own success. READ IT!!! READ IT!!! READ IT!!!, or you'll sorry then.....!!!!
Rating: Summary: Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management Review: It is a great book and a must for every Engineer who works in the water industry.
Rating: Summary: State of the art Review: Advanced Water Distribution Modelling and Management rapresents the "state of the art" for engineers and practitioners involved in the water industry. All main technical topics are covered with great attention toward practical aspects. Particularly interesting and innovative is the chapter concerning Water system security.
Rating: Summary: Haestad Book Review: This book is a must have reference to any engineering library. It is a great source for anyone designing, operating or maintaining a water distribution system. Best of all, the book is formatted so the information can be found easily. I wish I had this book when I took the PE exam.
Rating: Summary: The "Bible" of Water Modeling Review: I own both the Water Distribution Modeling and Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management textbooks and they are both great. As I say in the title of this review, the Advanced textbook is the "Bible" of water modeling! There are two or three other engineers in the office who have ordered this book because of its thoroughness and interesting subject matter. I would recommend this book to anyone involved or interested in hydraulic modeling. I had the priviledge of attending a Haestad workshop in which Dr. Walski taught and it was obvious that he is an expert in the field of water modeling. This is basically the only reference I use when I have a question concerning hydraulic modeling. I have been using Haestad products for almost five years. All around, Haestad has been helpful with anything I have asked for! This includes customer service, support, etc.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: Well I've been using haestad products since years ago, and with this text the company rises the level for all the field professionals. I'm also a Professor at the local University and I recomend it as a "must consider" material for all my students. Keep the doing this extraordinary work guys.
Rating: Summary: A must have water modeling book Review: A friendly easy to use reference book. This book is extremely useful especially so when information is required on specific topics. The topics required are easy to find and are clearly and well covered. The topics are well set out in the book and deal comprehensively and clearly with the various apects associated with water system modeling. A book that both beginners and practicing engineers involved in water distribution modeling and management will find suited to their needs.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Professional and Academic Reference Review: Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management (Haestad Methods, 2003), is a well-written text that provides an excellent introduction to water distribution modeling. The text (1) introduces the reader to fundamental WDM theory, (2) good modeling practice, and (3) state-of-the-art modeling technologies such as optimization, GIS and water system security. The authors review the fundamental theory and engineering principles of WDM such that a practicing engineer can use this reference to develop an understanding of WDM technology within the context of their undergraduate education. Illustrations within chapters and problems at the end of chapters are very instructive. For the professional engineer this text does an excellent job of helping to remove the mystery of water distribution modeling software. As a professor of civil engineering, I find this to be a valuable text and/or reference for our senior design courses. Computational simulation (modeling) is used in many areas of civil engineering. The fundamental modeling skills introduced in AWDMM can be used by students as a guide to good modeling practice in any application area. It is always difficult to strike the appropriate balance between instruction in fundamental theory and software application when using commercial software in design courses. The format of this text provides an excellent template for such instruction. In our curriculum, students have had instruction in WDM theory prior to their design courses and AWDMM provides an adequate review without belaboring the points while extending their knowledge base by introducing modeling concepts and WDM operational characteristics. Overall, this is an excellent reference for both the practicing engineer and academic instruction.
Rating: Summary: Distribution Modeling from A to GIS Review: A great reference, you'll actually read this book before you put it on your shelf to collect dust. Learn everything from the history of water distribution technology to the future of GIS and hydraulic modeling. A "must" for all water distribution modelers as well as those who'd like to be!
