Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK - ADVANCED WATER DISTRIBTION MOD & MANGMNT Review: THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK. A LOT OF INFORMATION THAT NEEDED TO KNOW AND NOW I DO KNOW. I WOULD STRONLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO AND NEW AND OLD ENGINEER. THANKS
Rating: Summary: THE BEST THING SINCE A CALCULATOR. Review: I HAVE BEEN USING HAESTAD'S METHODS SINCE COLLEGE. JUST RECENTLY MY COMPANY BOUGHT WATER CAD AND SEWER CAD. WHEN THE BOOK ARRIVED ALONG WITH THE SOFTWARE I BEGAN READING IT, AS I GOT MORE INTO THE BOOK IT HAD EVERY QUESTION THAT I HAD IN MY MIND ALREADY ANSWERED. THIS BOOK IS THE MOST HELPFUL TOOL IN USING WATER CAD AND MODELING PERIOD. IF IT WAS NOT FOR THIS BOOK I WOULD HAVE TO GET ALL THE BOOKS FROM MY COLLEGE DAYS AND JUST READ, BUT THANKS TO THE ADVANCE WATER DISTRIBUTION MODELING BOOK,I ONLY HAD ONE BOOK ON MY DESK.IF YOU OWN WATER CAD OR NOT I THINK THAT THIS BOOK WOULD BE A WINNER FOR ANY ENGINEER. "IT'S THE NEXT BEST THING TO A CALCULATOR".
Rating: Summary: The Master in Hydraulic Modeling Review: I got a copy of the Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management textbook about one year ago, I found it a comperhensive reference in water water distribution analysis, design and modeling. It combine both the theory and practise which make it a realy master reference for both students and engineers.
Rating: Summary: Great reading Review: I had my doubts when I was asked if I seen the new Advanced Water Distribution Modeling book by Haestad. I can honestly say I have enjoyed this book, which is filled with great information and will guide you through the Water Modeling, caculating and basic theory areas of your Water System.
Rating: Summary: Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management Review: This is a must have book for anyone involved with water system design and modeling. The WaterCad Software 25 pipe version included with the book has been a great way to isolate small problems and focus on the solution. Thanks Haestad Methods
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book to have Review: Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management is an outstanding book. It combines the concepts of pipe flow hydraulics and computer modeling in such a way that they are easy to understand and apply. It covers many practical aspects of water distribution operation and management. The problems and discussions at the end of each chapter reflect the real problems in the field and are helpful for undestanding the chapter materials.
Rating: Summary: A Perfect Resource!! Review: This book is very well written with tons of good, useful information. Everything you need to complete your design and a great study guide for the PE! My copy seems to disappear from my shelf on a regular basis - we're working on getting some additional copies for the office!
Rating: Summary: Excellent reference Review: This book is a reference manual and how-to for any type of water modeling. Anyone involved in the design of water systems should own this book.
Rating: Summary: Advanced Water Distribution Modeling & Management Review: In ways of practical demand estimation and planning/design of water distribution systems this book contains almost everything you need. Customer demand, fire protection, system testing and operation, its all there. The treatment of modeling theory is thorough, the style is "soft" mathematics and easy to understand. Of particular interest are two chapters, no 6 on SCADA ( Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and no 11 on GIS and model integration, two important fields usually neglected in books on water distribution but certainly an important part of practical water distribution engineering. It is difficult to find noteworthy drawbacks, the soft matematics are sometimes too soft, it is hardly mentioned that models are mathematical tools to solve time dependent differential equations with the appropriate boundary conditions and nothing else. And then there are places where the differential equations cannot be avoided as in optimization. This minor schizophrenia in the style makes the text a little bit too long sometimes. Then there are some minor details that could be added, e.g. in the discussion on flow flutter within the model time step it could be mentioned that due to the nonlinear relationship between friction and velocity, flutter increases flow resistance considerably. This book is valuable for all water distribution system designers. One would expect that a part of the book is devoted to the Haestad software, but surprise surprise, this is not the case. This is just a good book.
Rating: Summary: THE WATER MODELING ENCYCLOPEDIA Review: I OWN BOTH EDITIONS OF THIS BOOK. THEY COVER ABOUT EVERY SUBJECT AND TOPIC ON WATER DISTRIBUTION MODELING. THE BOOK IS WELL ORGANIZED AND INFORMATIVE. THIS WOULD MAKE AN EXCELLENT TEXTBOOK FOR ENGINEERING SCHOOLS AND SHOULD BE IN ANYONES LIBRARY THAT DOES ANY TYPE OF DESIGN IN THE WATER FIELD. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ALL ENGINEERS. IT ALSO COMES WITH SOFTWARE FROM HAESTAD THAT IS EXTREMELY VALUABLE IN WATER MODELING AND IS USEFUL FROM SIMPLE PROJECTS SUCH AS CALCULATING FIREFLOWS TO COMPLEX NETWORKS FOR ENTIRE CITIES.
