Summary: Excellent Resource for all hydraulic engineers
Review: This new book recently published by Haestad Methods is a very comprehensive text book and 'how to' book for anyone working with water systems. Each chapter is clearly written with both the theory and practical application for water distribution modeling. There are practical exercises at the end of each chapter. For the water system engineer and profession, the exams may be sent to Haestad for grading and ultimately continuing education credits. While the book is written for engineers, anyone who works with water systems on a daily basis will be able to learn more about how water systems respond to their daily demands.
The book also comes with a CD with a working model of its WaterCAD program. This working model includes all of the features of the commercial product, including water lines, pumps, ground storage tanks, elevated tanks, water wells, pressure reducing valves, line valves and much more. The WaterCAD program included with the text book is limited to a few water lines, but enough to see how the program works and to solve real system problems.

Summary: A great book got even greater
Review: Understand a computer model and you gain knowledge about the physical process behind it as well. This is why Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management makes an extremely usefull book even more valuable. Not only does AWDMM contain a vast wealth of knowledge about water networks, their operation and the mathematics behind it, but it also stays true to the sparkling personality of the precursor book, Water Distribution Modeling. The choise of new topics added is excellent: demand management using geographical data, water quality measurement, integration of modeling and SCADA systems, water system security, transients in water networks and more - all treated in Haestad's combination of engineering clarity and great style. I use it and recommend it both for use in both teaching an engineering.

Summary: An excellent textbook !!!
Review: Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management is not only a complete and current reference for professionals involved in water distribution systems but also an essential textbook for undergraduate and graduate courses. In fact, what makes this book different is that it contains from basic hydraulic concepts up to the most recent researches and experiences in a comprehensive language.

Summary: Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management
Review: Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management is a great book on water distribution modeling. It's very comprehensive, heavy on practical theory, geared toward applications and is written for hydraulic modelers like myself.

It's written in a familiar format, similar to a text book. However unlike a textbook, most of chapters can be read individually, as need arises. I use it primarily as a reference. There is a good section on testing water distribution systems and model calibration. A big help.

Summary: The best reference
Review: When it comes to modeling and optimization of water distribution systems, the ADVANCED WATER DSITRIBUTION MODELING AND MANAGEMENT book by Haestad Methods is the best reference so far as I know. It is an all-in-one book where you can find virtually every details related to water distribution system modeling, analysis, optimal design and optimal operation, GIS applications and so on. With its interesting cartoons and abundant space, it is an easy to read book. Since I bought it some one and a half years ago, it has been my favorite reference. If any one is interested to learn how water distribution systems can be modeled and optimized, I recommend this book as one of the best references.

Summary: The book for the professionals of water distribution systems
Review: The "Advanced Water Distribution Modeling & Management" textbook, that I recently reviewed, was for me, a wonderful experience. All the themes bound up with the water distribution systems: modeling, design, operation and planning are dealt with excellently. This book must be acquired by the professionals of water engineering and by the civil and environmental engineering students. It's advisable that the libraries count on, having several copies. Also, I recommend this textbook for all kind of water management companies or agencies in the entire world.

I congratulate Haestad Methods for making this splendid book also to Amazon.com for selling it.

Summary: A practical text for real world practice
Review: Haestad Methods has provided an excellent text for practical use by engineers. This text is best used in combination with Haestad Method's WaterCAD Software, but still provides enough to be valuable to any engineer who works with water distribution systems. This book is an improvement over the previous "Water Distribution Modeling" text and effectively replaces it. This book is a very useful resource for any civil engineering office that designs water distribution systems. The WaterCAD software program is also fantastic.

Summary: Great reference for the professionals of water distribution
Review: This texttbook, that I recently reviewed, was for me a great experience. This is a must have book for any Civil consultant involved in hydraulics. It is both a guide to water modeling and a practical reference to water distribution operation and management. Thanks Haestad Methods.

Summary: The Best "How To" Book on Modeling
Review: This reference has given us an edge in satisfying client needs from the simplest capacity study to the most complex model. It has helped make our competent modelers more efficient and the up-and coming modeler function like a pro. Many common questions and problems are anticipated and clearly answered. Because the book so thoroughly covers system management issues, I believe many parts should be required reading for water resources engineers.
