Williams eludes to using fractals in his analysis but makes no reference to fractal dimensions, Koch curves, monsters or any of the original theories as proposed by Mandelbrot. He does present some scaling principles and their application to Elliot Waves, but this is under the assumption that the Elliot Wave is correct or that you believe in it. I do agree with some of the money flow theories Williams proposes, which is probably the most clearly explained and substantiated part of his trading theory. For a more scientific approach to fractal analysis, I recommend "Fractals and Scaling in Finance" by Mandelbrot and for software, "Fractal Finance" by Tetrahex. Both of these follow a similar system, although Fractal Finance does use a MACD which appears similar to Williams.

If you love the markets, love to trade, and truly want to succeed at this,I feel that you must see it from every prospective. Sure many books repeat what I allready know, but how would I know that without reading them! Besides,I never found a book that did'nt have some tip in it worthy of my bag of tricks notebook. When I finished his first book, I could'nt wait to trade it! Soon thought, l realized how much more was needed to trade the fractal. But the good thing about it was that reading many other books in between this one showed me that what he's teaching is another simpler, clearer, more precise trade without the "discretionary stops, anxiety fills. Test it,with a negative bias,it works! See ya later alligator!

This book clearly explains the underlying structure of markets and how computers have allowed us like never before to see that underlying structure using the new science of Chaos and non-linear mathmatics. This new approach along with the proper psycological mindset allows trading to be profitable. I enjoyed this book very much and got alot out of it. It is well written and the diagrams help in understanding the concepts.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A thorough and valuable mind and computer trading system. Review: For those who will spend the time transforming according to William's prescription, this is a giant leap into the middle of modern trading psychology and technology. This is a very readable book with information which can be adapted to real life, trading or not-trading. I am impressed with Bill William's attention to detail in teaching his methodology and his team's attention to their disciples. His ingenious use of easily available technology is a helluva tool for your trading toolbox... or as a standalone. Get this book if you don't understand the importance and basis of fractals... you will be afterwards, and be glad.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: CUTS THRU ALL THE BULL***T IN THIS FIELD Review: Having trained with Bill Williams last year I eagerly awaited his succession to Trading Chaos. Elliot wave theory as portrayed in TC, has been somewhat given a backseat to simpler techniques and tools which I believe have far greater value and practical application. You really need to thoroughly practice these techniques before you can pass judgement. If I was to be critical of this book, then I would say that the theory tends to overcomplicate matters. Bill with his strong belief in simplicity certainly at times gives the reader a more complicated picture than is perhaps necessary. Maybe I have yet to understand further what he is saying, I don't know. Also, the approach is not completely unique in that certain tools are akin to that found in the Technical Analysis literature. I sometimes wonder where the distinction lies. Bill with his year's of wisdom has come up with an approach to trading that many people will resist because of it's passiveness. At the end of the day, it is really up to you to take what you percieve to be profitable and apply it using your own ability and insight. This book whilst offering a complete and detailed trading approach, will not guarantee success. Only you can do that. I battled hard with my course and tutorial notes before I began to see the light. The power of these techniques are in their simplicity and their focus on the present moment. This is not a predictive approach and should you be looking for this, I suggest you try elsewhere. You will certainly be dissapointed otherwise.

I have read other books on chaos, probably they are more complex, closer to the theory, but apply them to the market if you can. This book emphasizes on knowing yourself and then the market. My experience is it took me from being not consistent winner to a profitable trader. I can also look to the market as a friendly place for the rest of my life. No more struggle, just flow.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Trading Resource Review: I just finished programming the entire system into Tradestation 2000i, I double checked it by checking it against his own proprietory software to make sure it works and I can tell you that if you choose the right securities to trade based on the sleeping alligator that this is an excellent system or at least an excellent start of a system. This book uses a proven methodology however you won't be able to tell that if you just trade it straight, you have to use all the resources mentioned in the book to fully appreciate it, please don't just mechanically program it into a computer and go by those results but use the tools or Atti-tools fully.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: this stuff just doesn't work Review: I too tested the system described in this book on US stocks. Maybe it works for futures, but on stocks, it is not the case. None of the layers described in the first two chapters have positive expected value. I stopped after that. The fractal/chaos folklore used is an attempt to make the dry description of a trading system more colorful, but has nothing to do with the corresponding scientific theories.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: follow; don't question Review: if you follow the alligator, and eat when it eats, sleep when it sleeps, you'll very rarely go hungry. take the advise literally, and go with the trend.. but don't get greedy. true, there'll be one or two false break-outs, but i found that looking for the fractal buy or sell when the alligator awoke, put me in the winning mode far more times than not. i was unable to try the other indicators, but was very happy with the alligator.
