Summary: A Must Read
Review: A must read for any serious trader. Larry has been my only teacher for the 4 months I have been studying the markets, and the past does not lie. His methods are solid and can proven by the past. I look forward to a profitable trading career because of the teachings of Larry Williams.

Summary: A super Source for a Tested System May , 2000
Review: A super Source for a Tested System May , 2000 Reviewer: Doctor Jimmy I have just gottten started trading and have perused many books on this subject. Out of all of those books this is the first that appeared complete as a system which could be used. This writer, Larry Williams is confident enough to even provide the readers with his home phone number so he can be contacted personally. I was so pleasantly surprised I had to call him and verify the book was as complete as it appeared

Some have said, "No book is going to hand you a great trading system", but this book gives you a enough information by which to build a good system. If you are looking for a way to start making tons of money this book plus time and patience can get you there. Because books are permanante and systems change and improve after using the book's systems and becoming familiar with trading to the degree taught in the book, after paper trading at least 90 days one should attend one of Larry's live face to face siminars to get all the rest of the story to assure success as much as it can be assured! I recommend this book highly.

Summary: One of the few worth reading
Review: Although the author has "legendary" status in the trading world, every now and then one comes across biting criticisms of him and his work. One reason for this I'm sure, are the little inconsistencies which occur in his ouvre.
For example, up until the publication of this book, he had written a few, which in hindsight, were all about longer term trading.
It now seems he has been trading short term for years.
Also, he says in Long Term Trading that he trades bonds and the S&P, and yet other quotes I've seen attributed to him say he trades the stock index only.
For all that, this is a tremendous book. Very easy to read but the devil is in the detail.
My only criticism is that at times the editing is very poor, and a simple literal when discussing trading systems can turn a winning system into a losing system.
Also his results were attained using Omega/Trade Station and when the same systems are tested using a different software, the results can flucuate enormously, sometimes invalidating the original system tested. This point seemed to surprise Larry but is one he should have been aware of.
However, it is undoubtedly the best book on trading I've read.

Summary: A "Must Read" Book for all Short Term Traders
Review: As an avid trader and student of Larry Williams, I can say that without a doubt that this is the culmination of a brialliant career. I have read all of Larry's materials, and I have long awaited a single work from Larry that summarizes his short term technique and style of personal trading in a single volume.

Larry provides the basis on which to build a system or methodology for trading the markets particularly the bond and s&p markets)that will provide consistent, high probability trades. From pattern analysis to volatility breakout systems to money management this work covers all the bases for establishing a short term style of trading. With his up front, conversational style of teaching, Larry does not confuse the reader with technical jargon that requires a math degree to understand. This book is a must for short term traders!

Summary: Another excellent book
Review: As with his "Definitive Guide to Futures Trading" Volumes 1 & 2 Larry gives the reader dozens of gems. There is no 'Holy Grail' but there are patterns and other indicators which work on all markets in all time frames. Larry is a teacher. He shows you how an idea is used to generate a system and how to improve it. Everything he shows he invites the reader to go beyond his words and experiment in building your own system. I was a reluctant trader until I used some of his ideas from the "Definitive Guide to Futures Trading" series and constructed my own system. I know exactly what everything in that system does and know that it is profitable. I believe that this is what Larry wants every reader to do from his books. I am now retired and trade only 6 months out of the year. Larry gives a money management tool that is worth 100 times the price of the book. Proper money management can make a marginal system a winner. My advise is BUY EVERY BOOK THAT LARRY WILLIAMS HAS WRITTEN!

Summary: excellent but not outstanding
Review: Definitely worth buying...good ideas and the money management formula is simple and effective. if you multiply profit factor X percentage profitable X win:loss ratio most of the systems are under <4. Truly outstanding systems are generally > 4. But Larry does an excellent job summarizing some basic concepts and I have re and reread this book. Buy it and learn from it I am not sure I would blindly trade the systems in it though

Summary: Review by Researcher at a large NYC Hedge Fund
Review: First of all, I am not a big fan of Larry Williams. I think most of his trading methods are mediocre at best when tested.

However Chapter 4 on 'Simple Daily Range Breakouts' is excellent!

If you have knowledge of statistics and computer programming, you can use his 'Simple Daily Breakout' to devise a portfolio with high Daily Sharpe Ratio.

Chapter 4 alone is worth the cost of the book.

Buy it!

Summary: Allowed for profitable trading system development.
Review: I am a student of trading and began study three years ago with THE MONEY TREE, the Larry Williams' home study course. It gave me a solid base but NOT a trading system. Using the methods in this new book I have built a system that tests to 79% accuracy with an average profit of $235.00. I will begin trading this system this fall and report back on its success. I found the book highly educational and insightful. I must disagree with the reviews that bash this book, I wonder what their motivation was?
