No punches pulled here. He tells you things straight out such as you better have an educated sounding voice. People with heavy accents and don't have good diction will get killed. If you've never recorded your voice, you're losing money daily. He covers every single thing you'll ever encounter as a phone rep. He gives you exact phrases what to say, or you can tweak them to fit your particular situation. He shreds middle management in this, and tells you how to deal with these people once and for all. You're looking for a buyer today, not 6 months from now. A wicked little book, but very frank and honest. He also states that 80% of people selling by phone in America today, are not qualified to do the job. He gives you some good guidelines to follow when hiring people. Other then that, buy the book. You won't be disappointed.
Rating:  Summary: Packed with hundreds of useful tips Review: I attended a 1 hour speech by Joe Catal on what it takes to be successful in phone sales, and what it takes to have a successful phone room. Like everyone else there, when he was finished speaking, we all made a mad dash to buy his book. The [small monetary] investment literally saved me thousands of dollars. There's a lot more to selling by phone than people think. Joe's book takes you step by step through the entire process from ordering leads, to script development and much more. We'll written and straight forward. Because of his book, I now have 5 reps selling business to business that are doing well using his techniques. Joe speakes the truth about being in trenches. He's a bit rough at times, but his techniques are solid.
Rating:  Summary: The best on the subject Review: I've never been a top producer at work, and after reading this book, it was easy to understand why. I've never been to a phone sales seminar or read a book on the subject. I've been in phone sales for 10 years, and realized I was making the same mistakes over and over. Within 30 days I flew right to the top. Joe's methods are based on aggressive prospecting and getting in and out of calls quickly. I've come to the conclusion that experience doesn't count for much if you're not professionally trained. If you sell by phone, this is a must read book.

I've read a lot of books on phone sales, but this one hits the nail on the head. If you need to make sales on a daily basis to survive, this book's for you. While other books try to be psychological and cutsie, this books throws that [stuff] out the window. You're at work for one reason only. To make sales. This book shows you exactly how. Finally, someone has the guts to put a REAL book out on biz-biz phone sales. I love this guys methods. A bit tough, but they work. I couln't argue with his reasoning and techniques.

I didn't have a clue how to do it! I was making bad hires, and thinking just because someone has experience in phone sales, they'd know what to do. Was I wrong. Rating:  Summary: The Real Deal! Review: I attended one of Joe's 1/2 day seminars and found it to be one of the best seminars I ever attended. What a dynamic speaker who knows how to get his point across. I also purchased his book which was an enhancement of the seminar. I'm letting you know that if you call outbound business to business with a product or service you can close in 1-3 calls, his book is for you! I personally think this is the greatest book ever written on how to call outbound business to business with a product/service you can close in 1-3 calls. If you get a chance, hire him to do an in house seminar. The [$$$] he charges is nothing compared to the return you'll get back on your investment. This guy is the real deal!

Before i read the book i was just about as knowledgeable of the subject as your average joe. after reading it though i feel i have alot of tips and tricks to make my selling much more conident drivin i would recommend this book to anyone who doesn't have a lot of experince it the telesales field. Without a doubt Joe has been in the "Trenches" for a while, and knows the game well. This book is a must read for anyone who does business by phone. I learned how to cut down on my callbacks with the non-buyers, and focus more on the real players. My sales have been way up, and I'm a lot less stressed when I cold call. Great book, and hundreds upon hundreds of selling techniques.
