Summary: A TERRIFIC FIND ! Concise and thorough.
Review: Comprehensive review by system and includes common problems seen by FNP's, as well as sections for wellness and professional issues. Each chapter is concluded with 5-10 sample exam questions. To encourage the use of test simulation (time, atmosphere), the author's have included 2 practice exams at the end of the text. Also, additional tests questions for each section are included to allow for focus studying of "problem areas" prior to taking the practice exams. Appendixes include test-taking guidelines and important clinical information for review (ie. medications and pregnancy risk, Pediatric antibiotics, etc.)

Summary: Accompaning CD is being revised
Review: DO NOT buy this book until the CD is revised. The CD practice tests give all the wrong answers. I called Mosby's and they said they were working on the "glitch" as they put it. just my opinion but do not buy the book until the CD is fixed. I don't know what version the other people who rated this book have but i don't think its the same as the one I have. Are these people fictious? I don't know how they can give the book these ratings.

Summary: CD is very flawed!
Review: DON'T BUY FOR THE CD-ROM! The rationales do not match up with the correct answer. On the practice test on the CD I got a score of 38, but when I went through the rationales it had marked the ones I had right (according to the rationale) wrong and vice versa. (I actually had a 82). There is no rhyme or reason to this flaw! I bought this b/c I wanted to practice with computerized questions, esp. since the test is computerized! The ANCC book is good but $$(NursingMall.org). Other good books - Fitzgerald, and Winland-Brown.

Summary: Concise study reference for national certification tests.
Review: Family nurse practitioners have the choice between two national certification tests. The tests are adminstered by different organziations, implying that test format may vary. This review text responds to that problem by covering both testing formats in the presentation of study material. Each system is reviewed in outline form. Specific disease processes are covered under each system in a "to the point" manner( overview, assessment, physical exam, differential diagnosis, theraputic plan). Each disease presentation is followed with several review questions/answers. A list of referances validating the information presented accompanies each section. There are two practice exams with answers and rationale included. An appendix covers frequently tested drug categories and considerations in their use. Primary care theories, wellness promtion and life span issues are covered. The authors did through job of covering this broad field. This book would be of value to student nurse practitioners as they complete their academic course work.It gets five stars if I pass!

Summary: Excellent review
Review: I benefited from the practice questions and exams. Excellent resource. It offers a good review of common problems/clinical issues with review questions following each topic. The CD-rom is useful, too, and worked perfectly for me. It contains three practice exams with 175-207 questions. I was scoring around 72% on the practice exams and passed the AANP exam yesterday! I would definitely recommend it.

Summary: Worked for me!!
Review: I enjoyed how the sections were separated by body system. It made it quite easy to study. Also, the review tests were likewise separated making it easier to diagnose my areas of weakness and my areas of strenght. This allowed me to focus more of my time on my weaknesses and not waste it on things I already knew. The two full-length tests were a good practice for the real thing. Best of all I PASSED!!

Summary: FNP Review book
Review: I used this book front to back to prepare for the AANP exam. I did find a few errors, but the explanations were so good, that I KNEW when there was a mistake and was able to actually build some confidence, instead of fretting about it. I worried a first, because I was only scoring in the 68% range on the practice tests in the beginning. On the test that counted...I was in the top 6% nationally! I used several prep books and think this book was the most helpful. The CD ROM was very helpful. Thank you for all the work that went into writing this.

Summary: Great for review
Review: I used this book to help prepare for the FNP exam and can say it was helpful. I wish that I had purchased it earlier on, at the beginning of the FNP program, because it would have helped for those school exam reviews as well. 5 stars, worked for me!
