Summary: Do not buy this book if youre programming STL
Review: I did not get any benefits of this book, sadly.

It is useless with Siemens S7 and you want to learn the STL language.

To few examples with this language.

Sorry

Summary: Excellant introduction to programmable logic controllers!
Review: This book is an excellant text for anyone just starting out or just wanting to brush up on programmable logic controllers. The content and layout of the information was very good. It made it easy to start with the basics and work up to the more complex operations. I especially liked that the book did not focus on one particular brand name of controller, but mentioned each brand and included many program examples of all the major brands.

The only drawback I found was that there seemed to be a lot of evident errors and misprints witht the text. Some are obvious such as incorrect numbering, while others I caught by asking questions of experienced individuals. I liked the fact that each chapter included a set of chapter review questions, but once again there seemed to be many misprints and incorrect answers. I only wish that the publisher would have checked closer for the misprints.

Summary: Good Book with many mistakes
Review: This is a great book for beginning PLC programmers, but there are numerouse errors throughout the book which cause confusion when trying to understand the use of Internal Relays, Timers and Counters. Use caution and refer back to the text when completing the tests at the end of each section and when reading about how some ladder logic is functioning, I noticed miss-labled Inputs.

Summary: Very good for getting your feet wet with plc's
Review: This is a very good introduction for those who have no personal experience with plc's. It does not focus on one brand, but introduces the reader to various manufacturers and the way each functions in comparison to each other. It is great for understanding the capabilities of PLC's. Further information is needed to learn to program and design with plc's.
