Rating: Summary: Lotsa Filler & Fluff Review: This book has a lot of information, unfortunatly 90% of it is made up of useless stories and worthless "common-sense" tips. The other 10% was in fact helpful, it's just too bad I had to weed the information out of the 500+ pages when it could have been written in 50.
Rating: Summary: A must-have resource for new buyers! Review: This book is a great, fast read for answering virtually all the questions related to looking for a house to getting a mortgage to closing the deal. It is so worth reading, and it proceeds in an ordered, fast manner with bold headings for each question. It's easy to find just what you want to know and the advice seems to all be accurate. This is the first--and may be the only-- book you'll need or buy if you are new to the process.

Rating: Summary: Be informed and ahead of the game! Review: This book provided us with necessary information that we needed to stay abreast of the fast pace of our housebuying process. We were able to anticipate each step of the procedure and make informed choices. And, we just closed on our first house today!
Rating: Summary: Best book on the subject! Review: This is a GREAT resource...a simple step-by-step approach to an otherwise daunting undertaking. The author writes like she is explaining the process to a friend.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: This is the best book out there for first time home-buyers. Worth every penny.
Rating: Summary: If you read one book on home buying, read this one... Review: This is without a doubt, the most well-written book on home buying I have read, and I've read several of them. First of all, the actual quality of the writing is first-rate, making an enjoyable read. Second of all, each chapter clearly outlines a strategy for dealing with a particular aspect of house buying and makes clear all of the pitfalls and problems you might run into and how to deal with them.I would rarely give a book 5 stars here, but this one truly deserves it.
Rating: Summary: Answers to questions you're asking as a first time buyer Review: This was one of the books we got when we bought our first house, and the one we used the most. It's well organized, and the questions and answer format works really well for this topic. Prequalifying, and the closing process were discussed at length.
Rating: Summary: Excellent advice for all home buyers. Review: Very sound advice, starting with the basics -- how to figure out what you want in a home. A great guide through the expensive mine fields that you'll encounter along the way to the American Dream -- whether it's your first time out, or not. Easy-to-read.
Rating: Summary: I bought three books and this one was the best Review: When I was starting the process of buying my first house, I bought this book (actually, the first edition from 1994), along with two others. One of the others was "Kiplinger's Buying and Selling a Home" and was decent enough. The other one was so bad that I threw it out and now forget what the title was. Sorry. This one, however, was perfect for my needs. I didn't know much of anything about real estate transactions, but I'm a sharp guy and I just needed someone to walk me through the whole process. Ms. Glink does just that it in an easy-to-read Q&A style, and I read it cover to cover. By the end of the book, I wasn't an expert but I knew enough that I could speak intelligently with my buyer's agent about my needs and was able to make good decisions regarding financing et cetera. My sister is buying her first house now, and I'm recommending this book to her. You should get it too.
