Rating: Summary: Waveguide Reference Review: I took Inan's class, and first saw this book as a collection of course notes. It was an excellent course, and an excellent set of notes. I purchased the text as soon as it became available. This is my primary reference for Waveguide theory. It does an excellent job treating the fundamentals of waves in a practical format. The text is easy to read, and has many examples. It is a good text to have as a reference and has enough examples to teach (or reteach) yourself.

Rating: Summary: Solid text for understanding EM waves Review: Like his other book, Engineering Electromagnetics, this one provides a thorough, pretty rigorous treatment of EM waves. It does well with building on concepts, especially in the first half of the book. There are a lot of problems, and most of them have real-world application in mind. I only wish the slab waveguides sections treated the more general asymmetric case, as opposed to only the symmetric one.
