Summary: An excellent introduction to the oil business
Review: If you're interested in learning about the dynamics of the oil industry and you know absolutely nothing about it, this is the book for you. Norman Hyne describes industry jargon with dictionary-like simplicity and guides you through the basics of oil drilling, where oil is located and why, how to read seismographs, and many other things. The book has photos and drawings throughout the book that help you understand what is being described and put things into the concrete.

This book seems to be written as a classroom textbook, but I read it cover-to-cover.

Summary: Excellent overview for people new to the field
Review: It is exactly what the title says. If you're new to the field, this book provides an excellent, fairly detailed description of both onshore and offshore upstream operations.
