Summary: lot of creative ideas but need more detail explanation
Review: a little disappoint towards the details of each idea. Many ideas still like limited into a initital growth stage and lack of details to go deep in many aspects. I will suggest you to buy the "New Market Timing Techniques - Innovative Studies in market Rhythm & Price Exhaustion" which was also written by Thomas Demark in 1997.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Concise, objective and useful
Review: Demark gives his readers many effective methods and indicators in this book which he supports with detailed explanations and many examples. One hundred percent arithmetic and objective, the content of the book lives up to its name. The book loses some of its steam in the latter chapters as they become cursory and vague. Those chapters covering equities, options and Waldo patterns seem almost anectdotal. At this point, I think one would be better served reading his newer book, "New Market Timing Techniques." However, this is still an excellent introduction to his methods. Plus, for anyone who owns software such as Metastock, TradeStation, etc., a lot of money can be saved writing the indicators yourself rather than purchasing the proprietary software.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: More oriented to the short term trader
Review: Found this book very useful and admire Mr DeMark's tenacity in getting to the bottom of what works and what doesn't when trying to apply TA in a practical manner. His "Waldo" patterns in the penultimate chapter are definitely worth adhering to. TA is all about risk and reward and this book goes a long way to provide some clear rules to apply TA to your investment decision.

Summary: DeMark methods may not be very profitable!!
Review: I always want to learn new technical indicators. So I was very exciting to know DeMark created so many of them. Some of them were quite creative. But I found he did not explain his methods in detail. It seems you need to just take his words. The most important question is whether they are useful for trading. I know some people in a website created a number of trading systems based upon his methods. Most of them are not very profitable. After many tests, I think I will not use any of them in trading! Sigh!

Summary: This book is exceptional for traders
Review: I am here at the IFTA conference and the market trading models on Bloomberg are the talk of the seminar. These indicators are described in detail in this book as well as the author's other two books. These are not the typical tupe of trading tools that most all traders use and trade unsuccessfully. If our trading desk and portfolio managers had their preference they wish that nobody would use these trading models. That appears not to be the case since everyone seems to be using them. Since the techniques are designed to operate totally the opposite to all other trading devices they become a discipline that contols one's emeotiuons when oen trades. In that regard alone these methods are exceptional.

I recommend strongly this book as well as the author's other two books.

Summary: Simply amazing--author is a genius!
Review: I have been in the institutional investment business for close to 40 years and and have earned a high degree of respectability and accomplished much. But I have always been incapable of timing my buy and sell recommendations. Until I read this book as well as the author's other books and applied these indicators proactively on Bloomberg, CQG, and ILX Thomson. By following 1 minute charts I have acquired an understanding that has enabled my analysis dramatically. It's too bad I did not have this knowledge years ago as I would have excelled at my work. This author is a market genius for sure!

Summary: Unconventional approach to market Analysis
Review: I have read a few books on technical analysis but they all discuss the same general topics. I had become disenchanted. I wanted to believe there was more to following the markets. A friend of mine who is a professional trader recommended this book. I could not put the book down, as each page seemed to ignite an inquisitive nerve deep within me. I was enlightened by this unique series of approaches. I applied the techniques and was successful Since that time I graduated to Mr. DeMark's other two books. They were even better!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Too bad I did not read this book first
Review: I have read a few books on trading. Unfortunately, this book was not the first. If it had been I would not have wasted my time with the others. Truly, this book described more of how markets behave than all the others combined. My time is valuable and to spend it wastefully is a shame. I know better now and have even ordered the author's other two books.

Summary: I am a large fund manager and responsible for billions
Review: I have woked in this industry for over 25 years. I learned in grad school that markets moved based upon fundamentals. That is true long term. However after reading this book as well as the author's other book, I now realize there is a mathematical template that seems to dictate price movemnt. This is NOT conventional technical analysis, rather it is what I have heard the author descibe in seminars as 'market timing". This is certainly palatable to me and makes by peers more inclined to accept these mathmatical principles.

These same indicators are being used universally by many well established fund managers and traders since they appear on the bloomberg, thomson-ilx, cqg and euters networks. Widespread usage and acceptance.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The value of these methods are indisputable!
Review: I just read the review made by obviously a neophyte trader. My trading partner and I feel compelled to challenge the statement that these methods in this book are not valuable. Our performance managing billions of dollars are grounded in many of these techniques and market logic. To discount this information without providing any proof attests to the lack of trading knowledge the reviewer possesses. I would match our trading performance up against his at any time. His comments were empty and I too believe so is his tading account.
