Rating: Summary: Completely Horrid !! Review: Now here is a book you might buy, but you are guaranteed to return. I am a CEO, I borrowed this book from a friend who was discarding it. I gave it back to him, who returned for a credit. By any other management book and you will do much better
Rating: Summary: You gotta love this book! Review: I am a information technology professional working for a small technology firm and I really love this book! Stuart Levine's Six Fundamentals of Success is such a good read that I told all my co-workers about it!I don't have a Harvard MBA or a PHD, I only have a high school education. But I completely understand every fundamentals it outlines in the book. No jargon, no MBA Speaks - that is what makes it a great book. I personal love the rule - Make Sure You Add Value. If I can continuously remind myself about this book and apply myself to it, I will be on my way to success!!
Rating: Summary: An excellent primer for work and life Review: I have now read this book three times. I have found that many of the fundamentals apply to life outside of the workplace as well (my wife, who is not in business, loved it). I have distributed the book to my employees and they have found it helpful in understanding how to "do the right thing." In this era of corporate scandal, I am glad that there are people like Mr. Levine who are seeking to change the widespread mistrust of corporate America. Ultimately, it must come from the top down and be built into a company's culture, but I think if people within an organization followed these simple rules, there might be more upward pressure on top management. This might go a long way in restoring the public's belief in American business. We can only hope, right?
Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: The six fundamentals of success is an inspirational piece of work that altered the way I conduct myself on a day to day basis. Levine's ability to convey complex messages in a concise and efficient way makes this a compelling and worthwhile read. Furthermore, the concrete rules that Levine puts forward, such as setting goals for oneself, undoubtedly have made me a more productive person. Another outstanding quality of the work is its relevance to fields outside of the business world. As a college student with several time consuming extracurricular activities Mr. Levine's book encouraged me to prioritize and communicate in ways that would have taken years of personal experience to attain. This book is not just for businesses, it is applicable to all aspects of life. This is a truly remarkable work - a must read.
Rating: Summary: All Middle Managers Must Read Review: As a Senior Vice President of a global financial institution, I really enjoyed reading this book! Especially the rule - Make sure your Boss 's Dashboard and yours are aligned. Many of the hard-working, well-intentioned middle management people are working hard and fast to the wrong direction and never double check what their priorities are aligned with their boss' top priorities. Doing that will help your career speed up to the next level. And that ties in with the rule saying "If it is important, say it twice" because if you don't communicate with your boss about your important challenges more than once, he or she may never realize how vital it is to you and the organization. If you are a middle manager and read this book and put those fundamentals to practice, you will soon become a part of senior management!!
Rating: Summary: Ouch.... this one really hurt ! Review: Poorly written book, no substance at all. This small book has no value, try "THE ONE MINUTE MANAGER," much, much, much better book.
Rating: Summary: Levine on ¿Today Show¿ Review: I picked up this gem, after watching Levine on the Today show with Matt Lauer. Reading this book once, was not enough for me. I personally leaf through the book every few days. The insights Levine provides are integral to every facet of my life. As a student leader on campus this book has helped me set goals, implement change, and maintain relationships. I apply these insights to my studies and everyday life. As the president of a major student organization, I can appreciate the fundamental "Communicate Up and Down, Inside and Out" for its reinforcement of the importance of constant communication among my peers. This book has saved my student organization time, money and a lot of frustration.
Rating: Summary: A dynamite book... Review: I can not say enough about this book and the impact it has had on my business life and skills. This book did a superb job of reiterating skills that all business people need to make sure they excel at to be successful in their individual businesses. Stuart Levine has a tremendous way with words, giving distinct, unforgettable analogies that help to force home the point. This book has allowed me to expand my career, and certain skills I have retained have been noticed by my fellow workers. I highly recommend this book to anyone in a business-related field or even not, as it is an important tool to have in navigating the path of life, especially one's work life.
Rating: Summary: Useless and Pointless Review: Dont waste your time or money on this little useless book. I am a CEO, and I am astonished that this book could even be published!
Rating: Summary: Want to Start a new business, you should read this book Review: I have been in my own business for over 15 years and a friend of mine recommended this book. I found "Six Fundamentals of Success" by Stuart Levine a very worthwhile read as it reflected and validated many of my experiences and beliefs. It just put it in a highly readable and concise manner. I like the rule "Don't let anyone define you" as throughout my career, I am the person who defines who I want to be and what I want to do. So if you want to start a new business, this is a great book to read before you do it. You will gain a lot of invaluable insight and avoid costly mistakes. It should be on your reading list!
