Rating: Summary: Superb Book Review: I had never saved a penny before reading this book. Now, I save a good portion of my sal every month. This book is so good that it psyches you into re-thinking your expenditure. A wonderful buy & I make it a point to pass on this info to anyone contemplating a comfortable retired life.
Rating: Summary: Financial Freedom! Review: I recently read the book, "9 Steps To Financial Freedom" by Suze Orman. This is a great read and I would recommend it if you truly want to become financially free. Suze talks all about why you are where you are today as far as your financial situation and how you can change the outcome with a few easy steps. If you want to be on the road to recovery, please pick-up this book. She uses a spiritual perspective which I find refreshing. Order the Book Today and be on your way to Financial Freedom!
Rating: Summary: Not for Everyone Review: I have shown this video to a college course in personal finance that I taught. Suze Orman has some good ideas that appeal to a limited cross-section of people, more to women than to men, and more to introverts than to extraverts. She spends a lot of time on the psychological impediments to good financial management, simplifying their inherent complexity into a quasi-Freudian cause, viz., our shame of money. This video thus might appeal to those of us whose problems in managing our finances are due not to a need for training, but rather to a vague sense of repulsion at the idea of sitting in the midst of a large pile of money. Just a few of my students, all of whom were female, expressed any delight at Suze's presentation. (To be fair, one was definitely interested in securing her own copy.) However, Suze's style can be a bit disaffecting. Her perpetual smile does not seem natural, and her tone does not resonate with the passion necessary to carry the viewer enthusiastically through the presentation. These idiosyncracies take on inordinate importance given the dearth of imagery. Suze gives her presentation in the familiar seminar format that features a few artificial plants on a stage and frequent scans of an audience that appears to try hard to look thoughtful. In terms of the inherent richness of the information presented in this video, it is probably sufficient to view it twice to exhaust its utility.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, Informative Book Review: I really enjoyed reading and learing the best way to navigate my way through the maze of financial planning. Suzie Orman's book was easy to read and understand, and it made sense! There were concrete examples, a floor plan so to speak, to make financial changes. I felt enriched and motivated by it.
Rating: Summary: From paycheck to wealth Review: A very successul friend once told me that you can live off your income but you can't get wealthy off you income, you only get wealthy by investing and properly managing yourmoney. This book will kickstart you and help make you money smart.I also suggest Financial Self Defense and More Wealth without Risk to add more financial strategies to your arsenal. All three books are must reading.
Rating: Summary: A Great Financial Starter Book Review: My Wife and I have only been married about a year and 1/2. I went to college but have been in the workforce for a good 2 years now and never expected so much financial responsibility. They really don't tell you these things in college and if they do, you rarely remember them. This is such a great book to pick up for referance and for just wanting to know how to start off "On the Right Foot". It is very well written and explains things in words that anyone who doesn't know anything will know something once they complete reading this book. Thanks Suze Orman for your time and effort in writing a fabulous book!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: It will change the way you think about money forever. A real lifesaver
Rating: Summary: Beyond Expectations Review: This is the best motivational book I've listened to in years! I'd seen Suzy on PBS and expected pleasant listening, but nothing to this level! Suzy addressed so many topics and caused me to think and evaluate my priorities. As a recent retiree, I now FULLY understand the value of financial planning while young! Had I listened to this prior to making my retirement choices, I may well have opted for "nursing home" insurance while it was available to me (Did you know that one out of three people who have nursing home insurance will use it?). When she talked about wills, I thought, "yea, that's right, I need to write my medical wishes and get to my lawyer." My advice is, "Buy it! Listen to it! Give it to your kids to listen to!" IT IS TERRIFIC!
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: This is a great book! Specifically, it wound through a lot of financial terms I had heard of, but previously didn't really understand. The greatest practical use I received from this book was that I showed my parents (whom are in their '80s) the section on the benefits of a trust vs. a will, and finally got them off of the fence to set their afffairs in order. Ms. Orman gives great, real-world examples of what to do, and what NOT to do! I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: 5 copies = 5 Christmas Gifts! Review: My husband and I watched this video and immediately felt it was a good way to pass on some excellent information and advice to several of our relatives/friends. People are not exposed to enough of this information in everyday life and they eventually have financial problems. We hope it will help the people we give it to, and that they will share it to help others close to them. We're giving to people from age 23 to 44 for both preventive and corrective measures. Its not easy to tell those close to you what Suze Orman tells her audience, and we liked her style of communication so that the basics are learned by all levels of experience. Its good stuff!
