Rating: Summary: Good but... Review: Suzie is great but this video is too "skim the surface". Her appearances on Oprah are at least as detailed, AND FREE ! Also beware, the cover may say 127 or so minutes, actually 1 hour 27 minutes.Suspect book(s) would be much better value. SM
Rating: Summary: new age claptrap Review: I suppose this book contains some useful advice, but I quickly tired of wading through the feel-good, New Age claptrap to get to it. I recently decided to become more informed about my finances, so I bought this book and a couple of others. The best, by far, was Investing for the Financially Challenged by Walter Updegrave, an expert from Money Magazine. His advice was straightforward, easy to absorb and presented with a sense of humor--a big relief after the Orman book. I recommend it to people who want pragmatic advice without the so-called "spiritual" baggage.
Rating: Summary: Some useful info, but you have to dig for it Review: This book reads like a self-help book written by someone who has spent years in therapy. It contains some useful information about hidden costs of living that I was unaware of before. There is also some useful advice about trusts, life insurance, and other forms of financial protection. I don't regret reading it, but I would have preferred something less "therapeutic". In the future I will avoid purchasing financial titles with a "spiritual" twist.
Rating: Summary: Great book! Immensely helpful! Review: I read the book a while back. It impacted the way I thought about my personal finances and helped me get on track. It has been great to read together with my husband and has facilitated some great discussions between us. Now we would like to explore the creating of a trust. Does anyone out there know of a good software product that will guide us through this process?
Rating: Summary: WOW - what a great help and full of practical tips. Review: This book is one of the best I have read. The tips for getting your finances in order are practical and things you can start doing immediately. Her analogies are wonderful. It just works well!!
Rating: Summary: Practical, Enjoyable, & Enlightening!! Review: Well, I read the entire book in one day!! I found Suze's writing style easy to digest and absorb her ideas through real-life examples! It felt good to know others had similar experiences and questions. The exercises in each chapter were easy to do and mind-stimulating!! I have already begun creating my ever-growing financial portfolio!!!
Rating: Summary: This is the stuff no one talks about -- the hard stuff! Review: This book let me look at financial issues that I didn't want deal with - like those that surround death and debt. It made the details easy to understand, the actions easy to take, and took the fear out of facing the financial facts. Buy it for yourself and for those you love!
Rating: Summary: Spend the Money Review: Suze Orman has managed to capture the true meaning of financial freedom on more than one level. The book gives clear insight into the reasons why we approach money as we do in clear, down-to-earth writing. Her knowledge of the financial world is vast and accurate. You will no longer have to wonder how to approach planning for retirement. This book should be for financial planners what the Spock baby book is to Mothers: a timeless, indispensible reference. You can't afford not to own it.
Rating: Summary: Sad Review: The sad story of many excellent writers is that they really do not know when to quit (same case in movie stars). Books like the Dummies ..., Do not sweat the small stuff in ..., and these mental stuff all started very well. Please cook up something else or just fade away. I did not get anything out of this book except things I already knew, even though I liked the 9-steps
Rating: Summary: Open your mind Review: After reading the book and many of the reviews, I have to agree that, while this book may not fit everyone's needs, it serves an important purpose. It encourages people to begin looking at the way they think of and deal with money. It's interesting how some reviewers became angrily adamant about the uselessness of the book while others praised it as if it were the gospel. I'd say those with a moderate opinion are right; it is uplifting, motivational, and thought-provoking, but you may need to look elsewhere for further improvements and knowledge about finances.
