Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Not T-H-A-T Good Review: The book is about 50% actual negotiating tactics and 50% political commentary. There were some interesting ideas insofar as negotiating strategies, but nothing really unique. The author comes across as a combination of an friendly, lovable uncle and the Jack Lemmon character in Glengarry Glen Ross. His political commentaries showed a breathtaking shallowness and lack of historical knowledge...such as his statement that the Western world's confrontation with the Islamic world began in 1979(?!). In the appendices, Cohen includes several memorandums to top officials in various administrations which provide insight to a neo-con understanding of the world. That such an underdeveloped grasp of geopolitics occupies a large portion of the book throughout is disappointing, and seems to influence Mr. Cohen's thoughts on negotiating.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: sage advice Review: this book is deceptive. each story is funny and enlightening and it seems like this might be just a sort of quick, entertaining, light, helpful read. then, when you finish, you realize that all these little stories have added up to a kind of world view -- it is the sort of sage wisdom you might get from a stranger in a deli, realizing only later that it has made a difference in your life. i give it my best reccomendation. a really good book.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Garbage Review: This book is garbage. 95% of the time while reading this book I was asking myself "what does THIS have to do with negotiating?" The book is basically a bunch of boring personal stories and bible thumping with tiny, generic, and usually useless pieces of negotiating "advice" every once in a while. (...). Fortunately there are many great negotiating books, but this certainly isn't one of them. Save your money.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A book that really teaches you how to negotiate Review: This book is great! I was always afraid to try and negotiate and would accept the "sticker price." Herb Cohen has introduced me to a whole new way of life. The book is really funny, a fast read (I read it in 2 days) and is so full of important advice. I recommend it to anybody that wants a good deal.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Cohen Strikes Again Review: Two decades ago I read "You Can Negotiate Anything" and was blown away by Herb Cohen's wise observations and tips. Since then it has been my bible for interpersonal dealings and saved me tens of thousands of dollars. Surprisingly, Herb's new book "Negotiate This" is even better. It's a riot to read and contains practical examples and anecdotes that can be easily applied. Without a doubt it's the best self-help book I've ever read. If you want to understand and predict human behavior and have the power to make things happen, buy and read this book. Very Highly Recommended!
