Summary: Gave me direction
Review: I've read all the homeschool books out there and have always enjoyed the authors articles in Home Education magazine so I knew I would like this book. What I had not expected was how helpful I would find it. We've always been the "do it yourself" types when it can to our homeschooling, but this year I was feeling a little lost. Not anymore. Rupp's grade level suggestions were just what I needed to get on track. Not so much as to overwhelm (like The Well Trained Mind, who has time to do that?) but, enough to help get you on your way. I'm surprised it has not recived as much "talk" on the email lists as other recent books. A great buy and one I will not be donating to my library, this stays on my shelf.

Summary: One of the best HS books out there!
Review: I've read tons of homeschooling books and I've checked them all out of the library...But I'm buying this one! Rebecca Rupp has done her homework. This book will definitely keep me on track and will be my homeschooling road map. It's much better than the 'What your Kindergartner needs to know' book. Great input, resources, comments, recommendations, and more. I like this book better than her big Home Learning Resource book, which is also great, but a bit outdated and overwhelming and definitely too large. I feel confident that I'll stay on track with this book as my guide.

Summary: Most complete resource I've found
Review: If a homeschooling parent buys only one book to use as a guideline, it should be this book. Thorough, complete, friendly and packed full of great resources (websites, books, learning tools, etc.), this book has become my constant reference.

Summary: Best resource I have seen!
Review: If you are looking for a guide and ideas to build on, this is it. If you need resources, and a wide variety of curriculms to choose from, look in here. This book gives you an idea of what children should know at any age, and lists products to help. Very worth the money and time!

Summary: All in one book!
Review: It's great to have this much information all in one place. Lots of resource ideas and concepts as they are typicaly presented. What should your third grader know about math?? It's in this book.

Very helpful info about art, music, science, and history too.

Great book. A have to have for every homeschooler.

Summary: Better Than The Well Trained Mind
Review: This book has received much less publicity than it should have. It is an excellent resource that takes you from preschool through highschool using the "normal" standards schools use and citing resources you can obtain (most through your library) to help your child learn what they should. Instead of textbooks (some are recommended especially for math), the author recommends quality books, games, websites to make learning the adventure it should be. Excellent. I'm so glad I bought it.

Summary: Excellent resource!
Review: This book is excellent for those thinking about homeschooling, those just starting out and even those who have been doing it a while! Rebecca Rupp explains different styles of homeschool from "school-at-home" to "unschooling" and the pros and cons of each. She discusses what expectations there are for what children should learn and accomplish in each grade level (from preschool to highschool). The thing that Rupp does best, however, is share a wealth of resources. From software to books, from weblinks to packaged curriculum, there is a wealth of knowledge contained in this relatively small and unintimidating volume.

Summary: A must have for every homeschooler!
Review: This is a great book. I am in our third year of homeschooling. I used it to review what we learned last year and will refer to it often to make sure we are covering all. I especially love the internet links. I would recommend that all beginning homeschooling and even those who are 'experienced' get this book and use it.
