Summary: Wow! A short, powerful book all managers should read!
Review: Finally, a book that takes the hocus pocus and buzz words out of the serious task of leadership. Listen Up, Leader is a dynamic book written from the perspective of the employee. After all, who is more qualified to reveal the secrets of leadership than the people who the managers are trying to lead? Listen Up, Leader provides straight answers to the tough question of how to acheive greater results from a diverse group of employees.

Author David Cottrell has simplified the complex subject of leadership into a solid, powerful management handbook. "Without doubt, leadership is the single most important variable separating corporate success from failure. This book is designed to provide management practical advice on how to be more successful in their job while reminding them of the importance of the role thay have chosen."

A veteran business leader, speaker and author, Cottrell shares his theories of what employees require from their manager to improve loyalty, retention, customer satisfaction, and improved results. According to Cottrell, most people do not leave companies because of pay, benefits, hours worked or many of the other reasons managers check on the exit interview form. His theory is that turnover is a direct reflection of employees's needs being ignored. Needs such as integrity, responsibility, vision, consistent reward systems, courage, and self development.

Listen Up, Leader is a must read for all people in a leadership position.

Summary: Good things come in small packages
Review: This is the most effective leadership book I have ever read. It is straightforward and real. It contains all of the information that leaders know, but don't want to hear. What is significant, is the title. It's not titled, "Listen Up, Manager." It's "Listen Up, Leader." Leaders must influence, engage, and enroll employees. Managers complete tasks and oversee. This book provides all of the employee thoughts and whispers that you may not hear. The content is invaluable and timeless. Everyone in leadership needs to read it. Ten times better than "Who Moved My Cheese?"
