Summary: Self Promotion
Review: Also very disappointed. I felt as though the author was promoting his related businesses and websites rather than giving the reader what the title suggest.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Basic level oriented towards 4X Made Easy(tm) users
Review: As beginning 4X Made Easy (tm) software user I found the book very useful. It goes into more technical analysis than the GlobalTec trainers are willing to offer. For example there is a good chapter titled "advanced trading charts and indicators" with basic explanations of Bollinger bands, DMI, Stochastics, moving averages, RSI, and ROC. Another chapter covers Fibonacci and Elliot waves. The introduction to technical analysis chapter includes candlesticks, support and resistance, and other trends. All of this is at the basic level, but unlike every other technical analysis book I have found, it is oriented towards the spot Forex (there is one chapter on Forex options). Because the Forex is open around the clock, it does require some modification of typical technical analysis methods.

There is another useful chapter on tax strategies and claiming trader status as a Forex trader. Again it is very basic, but because so few accountants are familiar with the spot Forex and because so many people will simply tell you "consult your accountant" it is useful introductory information.

The book uses examples from 4X Made Easy (tm) version 5.0. This is scheduled to be replaced very soon with version 5.9, now in beta. The changes I have seen in 5.9 beta will not affect the information in the book.

If you are already familiar with the Forex, and don't have any interest in Forex Made Easy software(tm), you may find this book too basic or be annoyed by the author's promotion of his own interests. He does not mention any alternative software to 4XME or even FX Trading Station. Some illustrations are based on 4XME screen shots. There is a full chapter on FX Trading Station software (almost like an operating manual) which is the trade platform used by FXCM brokerage. There are plenty of traders out there that use other companies' trading platforms and don't have any interest in 4XME and these readers should be forewarned. I do think in some way James Dicks is preaching to the choir with this book. He doesn't mention other broker platforms and the possible advantages or disadvantages of using different brokers, for example broker platforms that offer trailing stops, hedging within the same currency pair, tighter spreads, and problems like slippage or limitations on entry orders. This book is not an objective discussion of the spot Forex brokerage business, so don't expect that. Even so, at least 80% of the book is not focused on the author's company's products and is good basic information about the Forex market and trading.

I think all potential Forex traders, and especially 4XME users who want to learn more about technical analysis will find this book useful as an introduction and starting point. In fact this book is an excellent way to learn what Forex trading is all about before you open a live trading account

Summary: Good Introduction To Forex
Review: Forex Made Easy is a good introduction to Forex. There are some mistakes in the book. James has cleverly disguised his book as a long sales letter introduction to his firm, his products, and his $3000 software. I have no contention with him selling his products, while offering useful information about Forex, however, I prefer books that are not biased, and that provide many resources for further investigation and comparison. This book will not lead you to any other destination but to that of Mr. Dicks. If you would like to save $3000 by NOT purchasing his software, and save yourself the cost of his book, simply go to www.cmsforex.com or www.gftforex.com, where they will provide you with FREE trading stations and all the indicators you would want or need, AND you can trade directly from their charts. Dicks software simply uses exponential moving averages and MACD as buy/sell signals. You just saved yourself $3000! A further educational resource can be found at www.forex-trading-mentor.com, if you want to jump right to the heart of the matter.

Summary: Intermediate trader
Review: Found much of the info to be redundant IF you have done the 4x course and cd course. Much of the info can be obtained online free of charge. I expected more, but maybe for a total newbie it may be useful.

Summary: junk
Review: Go ask a professional trader what they think about his book and software and enjoy the laughter. A simple search will find out LOTS of info about these supposed traders and the "magic" software. Trading takes alot of time, knowledge, and ability to absorb losses.

Summary: Search is satisfied, I'm home and I'm no longer alone.
Review: Have read at least two dozen how-to-trade books looking for a market that 1. Was open when I could trade. 2. Guaranteed stops
to preserve capital. 3. Offered leverage. 4. Was relatively simple to understand. 5. Did not require a large committment.
6. Has awsome liquidity. 7. Free of commissions other than a buy/sell spread and a one dollar rollover fee every two days if a trade is still open. 8. Level playing field. James Dicks has written the most complete introductory how-to book that I encountered. I would expect no less from a systems designer with a teaching background. He covers the subject briefly but with clear examples. Ironic that McGraw-Hill's proofing was not
up to Mr Dicks' level of professionalism, including reversing candlestick definitions from bullish to bearish. (It takes more than spell-checker.) Attended a free 4X Made Easy introductory seminar and was blown away by the completeness of the book's trade evaluations and the many support features available on-line and live (from Dallas, not Bangladesh) should one choose to participate. (Purchased the software and am proceeding to paper trade and immerse myself in FOREX.) Talk is cheap, but nothing happens without committment. Those looking to be cocktail party critics should look elsewhere. Those serious about improving their lot in life can stop here and look no farther. Be aware that the FOREX is not the futures market. No expirations will cause you to be right but too early and loose all as in trading Options. Perfect market, great approach, sincere and attentive support personnel. Go for it! No. I am not related in any way.

Summary: Sale pitch
Review: I am a professional stock and options trader interested in exploring the Forex. Mr. Dicks has written a book designed to make the reader a customer of his Forex brokerage. A significant portion of the book is directed to instructions on how to navigate his web site. His explanations of certain important orders (stop loss and limit) are confusing and poor. His trading rules are worthwhile but can be found in almost any book on trading, Forex or otherwise. Overall, the book is a sales pitch for Mr. Dicks other enterprises. In my opinion it is not worth reading.

Summary: Disjointed, poorly proofread, and full of commercials.
Review: I bought this book looking for an introduction to FOREX, having been a futures trader for many years. While there is a reasonably good introduction to FOREX as well as some technical and fundamental information, the problems I encountered far outweighed the benefits, such as:

1. It's hard to go more than 2 or 3 pages without the author advertising some aspect of his business: his website, brokerage firm, training group, software, etc. etc. etc. In fact, he ends up devoting an entire chapter to this.
2. Whoever proofread this book should find a new profession. It's full of grammatical and spelling errors.
3. Some of the charts referenced don't even make sense. The best one was the depiction of an upward trend with the trendline drawn connecting the highs and not the lows.
4. While the book starts off in some logical order, it quickly deteriorates into meandering chapters.

I won't deny that there is some good information in here for those new to the FOREX scene. However, if you are looking for an introduction to forex, save yourself the money, log on to www.forextv.com, and watch the Online Lessons (btw, I have no affiliation with this site other than the fact that I watch it all day long now).

Summary: Excellent Guide to Trading the Forex Market
Review: I have just finished reading the book from cover to cover. I have traded stocks and futures and I wanted to diversify with currencies. I bought the book and started reading it on a plane ride. It was excellent. There was the compulsary basics and definitions, but then the book went into advanced details on trading strategies, real world applications and honest how to instructions. I was impressed and have decided to start trading. It was also interesting that 3 people stopped me on the plane to ask about the book. I have a positive first impression of the Forex Market and have opened a demo account to practice paper trades as the book suggested.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Im a new FOREX user and this book is GREAT
Review: I just started trading the FOREX and this book gave me a great deal of information about the Market. This book is very informative and I highly recommend it to all FOREX users. I also own and am very happy with the 4X Made Easy software and subscribe to the James Dicks PremiereFX Alerts.
