Rating: Summary: Highly Recommended! Review: In this series of questions and answers, personal finance guru Suze Orman presents her basic program of personal finance management. Her foundation is debt management and she touches on many other important basics, including retirement planning, insurance and mutual funds. Orman writes for financial novices - if you have a solid understanding of finance, read this book for enjoyment, not education. But if you're still looking to get your financial house in order, this bestseller is a great place to start. We [...] recommend this book to all financial beginners, and especially applaud Orman's unique take on how finances affect relationships, and vice versa.
Rating: Summary: The Road to Wealth Review: After reading the other reviews, I feel I am in the minority on how useful I am finding this book. The only financial advisor I ever trusted was my mother, who made it a point to keep up with the incredible amount of information you must learn, and she died 3 years ago. So I have NOT known WHO to listen to or believe since then. I don't do an incredible amount of reading, so when I purchased this book and started realizing it's value, I felt I wanted to purchase it for all my friends! I have not read Suze's other books to compare it to this one, but I have listened to her on television and realize what she was sharing is VERY important to most people. I don't feel that I am unintelligent, just uninformed! Therefore, speaking for those too busy to read all those other specialized books, I think that The Road to Wealth is a great starting place to get us informed on what is important in our journey called life.
Rating: Summary: Good Book by the Queen of Personal Finance Review: I have to admit that I didn't like this book as much as 9 Steps to Finanical Freedom and Courage to Be Rich. The question and answer format was a interesting change.Suze is the best of the female financial authors, by far. For more on personal finance, I would also recommend Rich Dad, Poor Dad and More Wealth without Risk.Suze's book is excellent at managing debt and money. For more cash flow, I suggest the 16% Solution and Cashing in on Cash Flow by Laurence Pino.I totally agree with the individual who does not recommend Jane Bryant Quinn. Her book is about 6 years out of date. Suze is the Queen of Personal Finance. Quinn isn't even a distant second to Orman.Nice book Suze!tcdefran@webtv.net
Rating: Summary: Sam Old...Same Old Review: There's nothing new in this book. Suze needs to back off for awhile.
Rating: Summary: Will Anybody Tell The Truth? Review: Anyone who read Ms. Orman's Courage to Be Rich or 9 Steps to Financial Freedom ought to demonstrate valor in writing a review. The truth? Ms. Orman doesn't have the courage of her own convictions to admit that her buy-n-hold, dollar-cost averaging ways hurt investors terribly. Rather than ackwowledge her inadequate advice regarding how to avioid the bulk of a bear market (i.e., having an approach to selling), she places the blame on us. We were too greedy. We should have been allocating to assets other than stocks... and then we wouldn't have been hurt so bad. No, Ms. Orman. Nobody will be on a road to wealth with a 7%-8% compounding rate of return with asset allocation. And nobody should invest in stock assets without a discipline for selling. That's how wealthy investors avoided the bear, and continued along a road less traveled.
Rating: Summary: she done it again Review: suza DID IT AGAIN. EVRYTHING LIKE A DICTIONARY. GREAT JUST GREAT.
Rating: Summary: Great content Review: This is a great book that answers questions that most people do not even know to ask when it comes to their money. Once again Suze has written a book that everyone can understand. She has a unique ability to write about complicated financial information in a way that is less intimidating than most financial authors. What I love the most about it is the interactive electronic bi-monthly newsletter. This book really is a great resource for everyone, no matter what stage of life they are in.
Rating: Summary: The best guide I've ever seen Review: This very comprehensive book has provided answers to every question I could think of to look up, and it strikes me as especially strong on the topics of getting out of debt (including a terrific section on student loans, which are a big problem for people I work with who are in their 20s), retirement savings, and saving for college (the new tax laws are included). But it also answered my question about umbrella insurance, and when I perused the warnings against annuities, I felt I understood what is wrong with them (especially in retirement accounts) for the first time. What I like best about the book is Suze Orman's voice--she's believable, incredibly informed, and on my side.
Rating: Summary: Very Good Book For Beginners In The Money World Review: I am an 18 years old student, who will be entering college in a few months; my parents recently gave me a credit card, and being a responsible student I wanted to do some research. Through several Internet sources, I was led to Suze Orman, seeing this book as the #2 best-selling book on Amazon, I decided to buy it. I am glad I did because the Q&A format of this book really helped a beginner like me on financial issues that I had never heard of before. I am truly glad I purchased this book because reading this book; I have a vast knowledge of the financial world than any of my friends.
Rating: Summary: Nothing new Review: Took Suzie advice and lost half of my childs college fund in less than 6 months. Current book not much diffrent from her P.B.S. program.
