Summary: The Road To Wealth
Review: I just picked up this paperback version of Suze's best selling hardback book of 2001. In The Road To Wealth, Suze Orman offers a friendly queson and answer session in a printed format.Suze covers all of life's financial stages with the sound, honest, and practical information yneed to make the best possible use of your money. Suze shows you how! Also recommend her newest book, The Laws of Money.

Summary: If you knew Suze
Review: You would say this is one of her best books to date. She has broken out of the namby-pamby self help mode into "The Road to Wealth" Yes she is still a "people first" person but this book concentrates on "Everything You Need to Know in good and Bad Times" There is nothing new in the book or anything that you can not find on your own; however it is well organized and explained. It is good to read what you know with a different angle or spin on the information. And yes I did learn some new things and have help with my view. This book is well worth the money even if you have things in control.

Summary: A complete encyclopedia on personal finance
Review: This is one of Suze's Orman's best books. It covers everything you need to know about wealth building and personal finance. Those giving this book 1 stars and saying it's too basic--question; how are you doing financially? What is your net worth? What is your debt to income ratio?Like those who bash the Millionaire Next Door, More Wealth without Risk and other outstanding wealth books, my guess is that you are looking for excuse; a way to rationalize your way for not being where you want to be financially. And if you truly "know it all" already, why are you still buying and reading books? Hmmmmm??"The Road to Wealth" is excellent. I also recommend Suze's newest book, "The Laws of Money" to add to your knowledge and financial well being.

Summary: It is very thorough!!!
Review: I am very impressed with Suze Orman. Ms.Orman is a generalist in a world of specialist. She realizes what it takes and what investors need in order to succeed. She doesn't mince words and has a hard no nonsense attitude.

I am a futures broker, investor, and author for the past 11 years. In that time I have realized that although I invest in speculative investments and portion of my portfolio must be maintained conservatively. Unfortunately, stockbrokers and futures brokers, in general, aren't as fiscally responsible as they should be. That is why I recommend this book to them and to you.

In this book no question goes unasked or unanswered. Whether she writes all of her books now or uses ghostwriters is immaterial to the overall valuable service and information that Ms.Orman provides.

You'll definitely benefit.

Summary: Unbeatable advice!
Review: There's so much about personal finance that I need to know and don't understand. And for those things, thank Heaven for Suze! This book is easy to navigate and easy to understand. Yet while making the information accessible, Suze never stoops to being condescending. Remember, though, to treat this like a reference book. If you curl up with it as though it were a novel, you'll be asleep in a matter of pages.

Summary: Well-Organized and Presented Advice for Financial Novices
Review: ... Suze Orman is very smart. She knows how to teach what she knows to other people, and do it in a way that is easy to understand and enjoyable to read. She presents her case like a counter-puncher, in the sense that the whole book is laid-out like a Question & Answer session - with all of the questions in dark, bold type, and all of the answers in regular type. This format makes the reading of the book very easy to take and the information easy to comprehend. It flows like a conversation in a way.

... Now, whether or not you AGREE with her advice is another thing altogether. You may prefer to not follow her financial advice at all, swim in the deep end of the pool on Wall Street, or to even fly the coop ( as Kiyosaki recommends in his Rich Dad books! ) and swim out into the deep ocean like a "REAL INVESTOR" in the "REAL WORLD" with the sharks and the killer whales who REALLY know how to play the game of Capitalism to its financial fullness.

... Whatever you decide to do, you can still learn a LOT about finances from this hefty book. Its 11 chapters cover: Managing Debt, Financial Intimacy, Home Ownership, Insurance, Paying For College, Retirement Planning, Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds and Bond Funds, Annuities, and Wills and Trusts. At 561 big pages, there is a lot of information here to digest - but it is well worth reading every page of it. Take the time to do so, and you will be better off for having done so. I wish I had read this book when I was in my twenties, but, of course, this book was not around then. Neither was Suze's interesting and lively television show on Cable TV - which you can also learn a lot from if you wach it on a regualar basis.

... Here is a helpful tip from page 67: "I have said it before and I'll say it again: Place people first, money second. Whether you are falling in love, living with someone, getting married, getting divorced, or starting your life over again following the death of someone you love, the people in your life come first." ... Sounds like good advice to me! - The Aeolian Kid

Summary: Better than Sex
Review: This is a good book, but I would think it falls short of being a Money Bible. I much prefer The Intersection of Joy and Money by Mackey McNeill. You can order this book on amazon.com or go to www.....com to learn more about it. Mackey McNeill is a CPA and national speaker. She was on American Family Radio today and what a delightful insight to my money. It was insightful and easy to understand what I need to do to find my way to money health.

Summary: Capital Preservation
Review: This is my "money" bible. It has served my well in numerous situations. Recently I became worried about capital preservation, as the stock market has not been kind. I was disappointed to find my "bible" offered no advice on this topic. I recently found a new investment book that showed me how to make my stock market investments much safer. It has helped me earn additional money from my stocks. I recommend THE SHORT BOOK ON OPTIONS: A CONSERVATIVE STRATEGY FOR THE BUY AND HOLD INVESTOR.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good for novices but lacks practicality and how to
Review: This is a very good book for beginning investors. It is well organized and covers an array of financial subjects from debt to equities to home ownership. Most of the information is useful as a general framework to get your financial life in order. On the other hand this book does not give you the psychological, practical and trading savvy you need to swim with the sharks on wall street. One of the biggest flaws of the book which I believe can be very harmful is the dollar cost averaging and buy and hold strategy. Unfortunately the emergence of electronic trading has significantly magnified the up and down moves in the market. As the past two years have shown stocks can move up and down very quickly and you need to posess effective strategies , psychological as well as practical to be a successful investor. In these aspects the book falls short.
My objective in buying this book was hands on practical strategies to be profitable in the market. To that effect I found that replacing this book with three much smaller ones is more time saving and useful. For psychological edge read "Rule the Freakin Markets " by Parness; For Trading Savvy read "The Stock Trader "by OZ and to learn practical strategies to recover your losses in the market read " Generate Thousands on Your Stocks Without Selling Them" by Elias.

Summary: Good, common, practical advice offered.
Review: Suze is the eternal optimist - ever hear her speak on the radio? Her enthusiasm and geniune excitement about this topic shines through and probably what really propells you, the reader, along through pretty ordinary information. Don't get me wrong, the information is great and primarily speaks to the novice investor, who is obviously the target of the book. If you are Warren Buffet, this book is obviously not meaty enough for you. From my standpoint as a somewhat experienced investor, it offered little new information but did reinforce solid habits (which I am trying to maintain!) Kristy Welsh, author of the book, "Good Credit is Sexy."
