Summary: Shame on the author and publisher!
Review: I'm writing you because of the FALSE reviews and recommendations on amazon. Shame on those who pollute the review pool with self serving recommendations.

Summary: The Best
Review: I've read all the latest and greatest best sellers on leadership and management. I put SURVIVAL KIT FOR LEADERS on top of GOOD TO GREAT, LEADERSHIP 101, MONDAY MORNING LEADERSHIP, EXECUTION, and all the rest.

In one book, you have your practical, real life guide to everything you need. Time management, mentoring, how to correct subordinates, how to motivate self-centered cry babies. You name it, it's here.

Not to mention, this book is fun to read. It entertained me. It taught me things that will make a difference in my life and my career. What a big eye opener. This is a great book, pure and simple.

Summary: Make room in the Pantheon.
Review: If the brilliant foreword by Ken Blanchard were ALL this book contained, it would still be an instant classic worth many times the purchase price. But SURVIVAL KIT FOR LEADERS is so much more: leadership, management, mentoring, effective feedback, time management, law for leaders, inspiration... This book belongs in the Pantheon of leadership classics, alongside the greatest volumes by the greatest authors. Often moving, always innovative, constantly thought provoking--an amazing work!

Summary: It's the one leadership/management book to read!
Review: If you want an easy and enjoyable read that's packed with the right advice -- This is the book you need! John Kunich and Richard Lester present exceptional advice in a great format. You'll find yourself nodding your head as you confirm your own good practices and pick up new ideas and techniques! A must buy!!

Summary: Terrific book on leadership and management!!!!
Review: It is so wonderful to read a book like SURVIVAL KIT FOR LEADERS that makes so many difficult topics clear and easy to grasp. Unlike the dozens of boring/snoring, pompous, self-important leadership and management books, this one is written with a fun, catchy, easy-to-remember style that makes the reader pay attention and stay awake. When was the last time you read anything about time management that was actually enjoyable? Or mentoring? Or how to provide effective feedback? Or law for leaders? Or how leaders inspire? No kidding, this book makes all of these potential snoozers come alive, and it does it in a way that actually TEACHES you tons of vital principles. It is impossible for anyone to read this book with an open mind and come away from the experience without being a much better leader and manager. This book is that good.

Summary: Don't do what I have done.
Review: It now appears that I am one of the few people writing reviews who was unfortunate to have actually read this sophomoric attempt at business writing. This is an unorganized, rambling, useless book which is only made worse by a writing style that took me back to high school when I would attempt to stretch three pages of ideas into a fifteen page essay.

Some quotes:
"A good leader is not an interruptaholic, but listens"

"And, it is safe to say that, just as surely as you are related to your grandfather, mentoring can make a significant difference in the lives of people"

"Truly, no manager is an island. Any manager who wishes to try the "island method" is apt to require frequent rescue attempts similar to the hapless crew of the Minnow of `Gilligan's Island' fame"

I do not blame Kunich and Lester. There are plenty of bad writers and mental midgets out there who don't get their books published; so good on them for succeeding. I blame myself for buying a book only based on twenty or so stellar "customer" reviews on Amazon without doing any other research.

Summary: It's About Time!
Review: It's about time someone wrote a leadership book that can actually make a difference! Kunich and Lester have given us a book of sheer genius. This is a transformational book, one that will really make its readers into better leaders. Bravo!

Summary: A revelation!
Review: Ken Blanchard signed his name to the foreword of this book for a good reason. This is THE book on leadership. This is THE book that will actually change your life. Absolute brilliance!

Summary: Leadership -- A Practical Approach
Review: Kunich and Lester have written a great book for anyone who wants to reach the top and stay there. Indorsed by Ken Blanchard, Kunich and Lester present an extremely impressive, gripping and focused formula for leadership success. This book is loaded with a balanced blend of leadership philosophy and practical application that inspires and teaches us to become better, more effective leaders. Survival Kit for Leaders masterfully addresses, as few book do today, three key pillars of leadership: character, love, and care for people and professional competence. This book is practical; it makes sense and it works. It is clearly a must read for anyone who aspires to effective leadership

Summary: Destined to be a bestseller
Review: No kidding, this book will be a leadership and management bestseller for many years. I have never seen so much usable information packed into one volume, and, even better, presented in such a fun, inspirational, and interesting form.

You know the cliche: You'll laugh, you'll cry. Well it applies to this book. The authors' humor often sneaks up on you and you find yourself laughing out loud. Then, next thing you know, you're in the middle of a moving story of the power of leadership to change lives, and you're moved to tears. When was the last time that happened to you while doing your professional reading?

I think the Time Mgmt chapter and the chapter about heroism, especially the parts about the 9/11 heroes and Raoul Wallenberg, were incredibly valuable. But they are just a small part of the vast wealth of life-changing insights that fill this great book.
