Rating: Summary: A logical template for writing and thinking Review: THE VERDICT •Excellent. Buy and keep this book; your friends can get their own. READ THIS BOOK TO LEARN HOW TO: •Communicate quickly and clearly •Ensure your thoughts and arguments are clear and complete DON'T READ THIS BOOK TO LEARN HOW TO: •Story-tell •Use graphics •Make new age pyramid hats, prisms or Egyptian monuments WHERE TO GET IT Amazon UK was much cheaper than Amazon US. I dunno why. A TESTIMONIAL I heard about this book from a friend who was handed a copy upon his matriculation to McKinsey and Company and held the work in great esteem. After reading the book, I had the opportunity to apply its concepts immediately in business school--the results were outstanding:•I believe that my individual papers became trenchant and pithy. •In a group paper, I was told by the editor that my sections were by far the most understandable. •While crafting a group presentation, I applied the book's simple logic and immediately clarified our message to the group's praise. •As editor of another group paper, I was able to rapidly structure tasks, rewrite submissions, and identify logical deficiencies. ABBREVIATED REVIEW The book is imperfect, but while some sections of the book can be skipped, none are so long that they need to be. But readers of the Pyramid Principle don't seek perfection in a book; they desire improvement in their abilities. The most important measure of this type of book is the improvement it causes in its audience's writing. On that I am sure that the Pyramid Principle is one of the best books of its kind. Read this book. Improve your writing, your speaking, and your thinking. EXTENDED REVIEW For the full review with more details on the book's content please visit snarley.blogspot.com

Rating: Summary: Are you serious about the quality of your communications? Review: This book is not light reading or something you should read and shelve. It is a reference you need to keep coming back to as a touchstone. It covers writing, presentations, speeches - all sorts of persuasive communications. If you need to lead your audience to a conclusion, this is the basis of convincing, logical form. I "met" Barbara by email when a journalist referred to her work in passing and that he thought she had passed on and her book was no longer in print. I didn't think that was the case and I was interested in reading the book again so I looked her up and sent her an email. I mentioned the reference to her "passing" and pointed out the location of the remark. She replied, affirmed her lively disposition (!), and was kind enough to send me a copy of the book which I still have. Barbara continues to update this book, her courses, and her online work. It is reference you should have and use.

Rating: Summary: What every professional should learn......in college Review: This book should be a required course in college. Professionals at any level would greatly benefit from this book. Suffice it to say, the Harvard PhD who suggested the book to me told me this book was one of the best things he learned out of his PhD experience. Strongly recommended!!
Rating: Summary: This book is greatly overpriced and the content is poor. Review: This book was touted as the book to buy on writing and organizing reports. It is greatly overpriced at $67.50. You don't get much for your money. It is about 170 pages of low quality paper with large type. I think whoever is touting this book must have been paid by the author. I expected a quality piece of publishing and got cheap junk. The contents aside they could have at least made it look good.
Rating: Summary: Immediately improve your communication skills Review: This book will improve your effectiveness as a communicator. You will be more persuasive. You will be more clear. You will spend less time writing to achieve these goals. The book tells you how to structure your writing. It provides concrete, clear tests to apply to all communications that you can apply immediateley. The book focuses on business activity, but you can apply the principles everywhere. The best book on writing I've every read, eclipsing "The Elements of Style". Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: The best business book I have ever read Review: This is the best book I have ever read regarding business writing and logical problem solving. From her start as one of the first female business consultants at McKinsey & Company, Ms. Minto has made her career as a consultant in this subject. She teaches this content to all of the major strategy consulting firms. Her latest edition (1996) has additional content when compared to the original version.
