Review: If you don't get this book you are crazy!

Summary: best civ pro review book
Review: If you have to prepare for a civ pro exam, this is the book to get. Filled with "examples and explanations" these are the most common problems you will find on any exams. It is great for review even if you understand all the cases that you read in civ pro class.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best Civ-Pro review book on the market!
Review: In deciding which Civil Procedure study-guide to purchase, I considered at least 5 other options, none of which are even in the same league as Glannon's "Examples and Explanations." Glannon's writing style is thorough, yet concise. He manages to convey an excellent understanding of the basic concepts and theoretical underpinnings of the rules and doctrines relevant to an introductory Civil Procedure course, without getting bogged down in the more trivial details of the Federal Rules of Civil procedure themselves. One word of caution: This book will be most helpful to students whose Civil Procedure professor is predominantly interested in theory and conceptual understanding as opposed to the minute details of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. For the latter type of class, Arthur Miller's study guide may be more appropriate.

Summary: The BEST Civ Pro study guide available
Review: Listen up ALL 1L's: All the hype is ABSOLUTELY true about this book-- it was invaluable as a supplement to my Civ Pro course which I ACED! Thank you, Mr. Glannon, for writing such clear and concise explanations of some of the most complex issues I have ever dealt with. The chapter called "Hard Erie" is worth the price of the text alone. Do yourself a favor and if you buy no other study guides buy THIS one!

Summary: Miss Manners for Lawyers
Review: Many have noted with deep regret how UNCIVIL most lawyers are in their daily procedures. In fact, it's become a very common joke how downright boorish they've been of late. Luckily, the etiquette master Joseph Glannon has written this exquisite little book about the do's and don't's of lawyerly conduct. Even the most obtuse ambulance chaser can follow its elegant logic and lucid style. Patiently, politely, yet firmly, Mr. Glannon takes these ignorant yobs through example after example of how not to step on a young lady's toes at the embassy ball or mistake a fingerbowl for a spitoon. Thanks to Mr. Glannon, there's no longer any excuse for members of the bar to eat their entire meal with a salad fork, metaphorically speaking.

Summary: Great for the basics
Review: My Civ Pro professor has been teaching for 40 years, wrote one of the most popular textbooks on the subject, and was utterly incomprehensible. I relied on this book to help me understand the reading and lectures as class went along, and to do some last-minute learning before exams. Most of my friends did not use any study aids, for some reason, and I found that I was one of the few who actually felt that they comprehended the class material and the exam exam. This book definitely doesn't go into the detail of a real course, but it was great for grasping the basics, so that one is able to follow the deeper interpretation of a class discussion. If nothing else, this book was a great confidence-builder.

Summary: Thank you Professor Glannon!
Review: Professor Glannon is a gifted teacher in this book. It is absolutely neccessary for every first year law student. Of all the commercial outlines and hornbooks purchased during the first year, this hybrid of the two is far and away the most useful. It is truly in a class of its own. I got the "A" thanks to this book.
