Review: Simply put; David Ogilvy is a genius. This is bar none the greatest book ever written on the subject of Advertising.

Summary: The eternal truth about advertising
Review: Some people may find the advice in this book out of date. Me, for one, will never trade this book for a more up to date trendy one. The wisdom provided by David Ogilvy is priceless, and outlines the eternal and basics of advertising principles. After all, though we have gone through many changes in the last years, products are still marketed by people to people. If you remember that, you will find this book an amazing experience.

What is particularly nice about it, is that Mr. Oglivy simplifies very complicated subjects, trying to have a 30,000 feet view of the problem, explain the essentials, and give some general guidelines. If you follow the Mr. Ogilvy's thinking pattern, and the principles emphasized (as posed to specific examples) you will be able to learn some of the most important lessons you will ever learn in this field.

To conclude, very recommended, and a must read for all people in the advertising business.

Summary: Good, but too many rules
Review: The book is informative, but Ogilvy seems to write up a code of laws for advertising, which he conveys as the only way to write ads. Still, it is entertaining.

Summary: Buy two copies
Review: The late, great advertising man David Ogilvy left a wealth of proven sales techniques for those wise enough to own his book OGILVY ON ADVERTISING. If you work in the ad industry, buy two copies - one for you, the other for your client.

David Ogilvy's book will make you realize how short so much advertising falls of its true potential. In the name of "creativity," advertisers diminish the impact of their message every day. I'd like to test the results of these bad ads against Ogilvy's methods.

Order OGILVY ON ADVERTISING today. Long live the words of David Ogilvy!

Review: This is a very good book. It will surely teach you about ads and how stuff used to be. Basically this reading will help your brain oppen up to ideas and come up with your own stuff. A must read if you are planning to be in advertising industry or want to produce quality ads.

Summary: A great primer
Review: This is an excellent introduction to the advertising world and should be read by anyone who is just joining the industry or is considering doing so.

Although some of the content is a bit dated, the ideas behind it are still relevant today. Ogilvy tells it how he sees it. He ocassionally borders on arrogance but even then it is worth reading.

A quick read by a novice will do nothing less than double his understanding of the industry.
