Rating: Summary: Not bad, after reading it the second time Review: The author does a good job in showing the reader how to manage risk.
Rating: Summary: Good introduction to option trading Review: Nice concise introduction into option trading. Cuts out lots of unecessary theory that others get bogged down in. I recommend this book as it succeeds where others fear to tread.I write this review in the week the Nasdaq collapsed and many traders lost a fortune. I was lucky to have delta neutral positions on as outlined in this book. I lost little and made money on many of my positions. I am not intending to boast instead illustrate that this authors techniques work to not only make money but protect your positions when it all crashes down around you. The author never holds out that this is the holy grail of trading merely his attempt to pass on his experience of how he learned to trade options profitably. No doubt other books are more detailed but I wanted it broken down for me in easy pieces. That is what Fontanills does in this book.
Rating: Summary: Don't quit your day job Review: God help you if you think you can read this book (or any book)and learn how to make "high profits" with "lowstress". It fails the obvious test: If it's that easy, whydoesn't everyone do it? It's very tempting to believe that the pros have some secret formula, and that you could make lots of money if they'd just let you in on the secret. They don't, and you can't. If you really want to learn something about options, you can find the basics online. Then read a book with some substance, like Natenberg. Eventually, with years of trading experience and a lot of discipline, you might make some money. If that sounds like too much work, stick with index funds. But whatever you do, don't fall for the bogus, "it worked for me" testimonials on this page. You're not that stupid.
Rating: Summary: Great option course Review: This book worked for me. It was an in depth introduction to the subject of option trading. I wanted to get to the delta neutral discussion and wanted to hear it from the master trader GF. At no time does GF state that he invented the strategies that he has mastered and made his own to many of his followers. What he has done is to teach the art to those that want to listen and who have made money trading his unique ideas. This book is a very good introduction into the strategies that professional floor traders use every day to hedge and make money. I like this guys down to earth style of writing. It is an express train to profitable trading of high profit low risk trading strategies. Many other "Cook" books and salesman try to follow his stuff and call it their own. But it all comes down that I wanted to learn it from the master trader (a real money manager like GF) not the salesman with their slick sales pitches that tramp across the USA pretending to know how to teach others how to trade. Good job GF. This book taught me what I wanted to know
Rating: Summary: Roller Coaster Review: This is an educational roller coaster, and that isn't a compliment. It starts slow with antecdotal stories of Mr. Fontanills' experiences as a business person and options trader. It then gives you a peak at the promised pot of gold - delta neutral trading. But, to prepare you to understand delta neutral trading, it bumpilly and joltingly takes you through an Options 101 course. Thomsett does a much more thorough job of that, if you need a basic understanding of options. The first 137 pages supposedly give you the background to understand the last 100 pages. But, BAM, it's a drop off into a dark hole! It jumps from using options as its example base, to using futures. The terminology changes, the charts and graphs change, and any practical application is lost in its switching investment instruments and its uneven explanations. The most important information - delta neutral trading - was delivered encrypted at Mach 2 speed. Pass on this one.
Rating: Summary: Great read Review: I must have bought a different book to the dubious postings below. Boy some get jeoulous of others success. For me the book was filled with interesting ideas and set out well the option strategys. At last I thought as I read a real trader that can also write. Neither the book or the author deserve to be degraded as this book delivers where others fall short. The book introduces the subject matter and delivers the step approach that allows me to trade. So I bought the book applied the theory and then made money trading. I always found other authors confusing to me .... too technical. I liked it and made money on his ideas. For me that is the true test of a trading book.
Rating: Summary: Good introduction to options trading Review: The book works for me. I enjoyed the book as it brought some new ideas to me and helped cement some of the concepts that I had struggled with. I had purchased other books that seemed too technical in nature for me. The book is introductory in nature but it as least not a sales pitch. I have read some of the glowing reviews on Amazon and agree with those opinions. Fontanills covers the basics and gives a foundation to move forward. Good book. Better than most
Rating: Summary: Snake oil Review: This book contains very little that will help you make money trading options. The glowing reviews are of dubious origin. Caveat emptor.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Introduction to Options Review: I saw Mr. Fontanills on Bloomberg and was impressed with his knowledge. I purchased the book and found it very easy to follow. I had struggled in the past with other books that were too complex for me to follow. He cuts out unecessary theory and applies practical steps for the trader to follow. Unlike some authors he walks the walk and actually trades for a living. His analysis of delta neutral trading was invaluable to me and I have been able to start applying it to my own trading. I also bought his latest book Trade Options Online which goes at the subject matter in a different direction looking at all the top option web sites and online brokers. I would have liked to see him publish a investment workbook that I could use to follow my trades. Great book it worked for me.
Rating: Summary: Beware Review: The reviews for this book are all written by the author. I was suckered in an bought this book, but after reading it and rereading the reviews here, I'm convinced that these reviews are all phoney. The book is terrible. The reviews are lies. Don't waste your money.
