Summary: The Options Course
Review: The book was below average, although it can give novice trader a little idea on what options are and how they work. Basically, I was letdown on the topics covered, and how the title exagerates on its claim. Read it if you are a beginner, but not if you are familiar w/options looking for some new strategies.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent Book for Beginners & Intermediates
Review: This book is a great introduction to options for beginners, but if you think you are going to "get rich quick" using some of the strategies or if you think they are "low stress", think again...

Actually, I like the first few chapters that actually discusses various instruments from futures, to stocks, to options. In reality, I am always trying to determine when is the best time to invest in real estate or in the financials (bonds, stocks, futures, currencies, and options) and no one really discusses this in depth...

Ultimately, you MUST use your own judgment and test through your own experience as to whether a trade or a strategy will work. Options Course will give you some of the thinking behind various options strategies (including delta neutrals), but it is still up to you to decide whether such strategies are applicable for your own speculative purposes.

Overall, Options Course is a well-written book for beginners and intermediates - there is a nice overview of all strategies (with pl diagrams), but like all investment books, you get what you can out of it, and the rest is up to you to test it out in the markets. You won't get anything for free.

Summary: Great option book
Review: I was satisfied with the information in this book. It sets out the basics and then the option strategy's to use. It is simple to read, concise and not self serving.

It explains his path to trading. The how, when and why. It is a difficult subject but easier to read than Mr. McMillan's books for example. Published by Wiley it is another good addition to my libary.

After reading some of the latest October reviews on Amazon I could not disagree more since: Fontanills does not promote in the book or try to sell in it. I have at my own discretion found his education and attended his seminar. It was brilliant. He is brilliant. He is the real thing ... a trader that can teach not a salesman in disguise. Selling this book to sell his wares. Baloney. I learned a great deal from this man and now trade profitably.

This book is a great attempt to transfer his knowledge. On a negative note I would have preferred that it deal only with stock examples not both futures and stocks. That was not enough to deduct a star in my view.

Good job Mr. Fontanills.

PS This is a book that gives great knowledge the rest is up to you.

Summary: Not worth the money
Review: I have read the book and attended Mr. Fontanills $2500 seminar which was a complete waste of time (and money!).Most of the strategies are impractical (e.g Delta Netural which may be good for floor raders). During the seminar they push you to subsribe to their expensive newsletter which has been a cause for losing money to some of my friends! Do not buy the book, because it is a bait for other expensive products.

Summary: over rated
Review: I have read the book. I also attended Mr. Fontanills seminar. I have found both to be of not much help. One has to be suspecious of the over rating of this book. Like the "reader from Oakland" who gave 5 stars and went out of his way to check on Mr. Williams who did not like the book ! I wounder if this "reader" IS Mr. Fontanills or someone working for him!!?

Summary: Great Options Book
Review: My experiences with Mr. Fontanills could not have not have been better. I have bought his book, traded his strategies profitably and attended a lecture.

The book outlines the how to, do's and dont's of option trading. Then introduces you to the various strategies that you can use. He does not promote his company or his publishing companys's seminars in the book. However, I independantly did my research and found his web site. Which I might add is incredible and offers all free information for option traders.

He offers 27 different strategies in his books and at the seminars. The strategies that he uses obviously vary depending on market conditions and he writes how and when this is to be done.

In this book I did not like the length of the "synthetics" which I thought required more explanation. I understand it a big subject but was left wanting more from this book. But for $34 I thought this was a very practical way to get started. I still refer to it often.

Like the last reviewer I attended a Los Angeles seminar and Fontanills was outstanding in his knowledge. He is very warm to the attendees. I purchased his newsletter and have a 120% return on my account to date.

I am trading smarter after Mr. Fontanills got through training me. I am very grateful to him and so is my trading account.

PS Oh, the last reviewer Mr. Williams I checked with Mr. Fontanills office and you don't exist in their records!

Summary: The OPtions Course
Review: Despite the rave reviews of others here I found the book to lack focus. The first 60+ pages dealt with the authors own success and personal health problems. From these pages I gleeamed such gems as visiting the local toy store to ask the clerk which toys are hot in hopes of catching the next big move in an associated stock. Perhaps I am missing something but What I had hoped for was more an introduction to the pro's and cons of Option trading as well as a basic understanding of initiating and profitably exiting option trades. Instead the author jumped back and fourth between Stocks, Options and Futures covering both calls and puts all at the same time. While repeatedly reffering to his Delta Neutral System and encouraging readers to visit his website, after reading 1/2 the book, and gaining nothing but confusion, I opted to return the book to Amazon. Perhaps seeing that the author is also selling a companion book called "the options Course Workbook" should have been a clue that the book was going to be too confusing to understand on it's own.

Summary: Over Rated
Review: I have read the book, attended Mr. Fontanills his $2500 seminar where he explains these strategies and subscribed to his expensive newsletter($1000+/year). Most of these strategies don't work. He basically uses one stragegy ( LEAP BULL CAlL SPREAD)which may work in a bull market ( What doesn't?). It is based on guessing what happens to the stock in 2 years. By the time you find out, you have paid George over $2000 in subscription fees. I konw, because I followed every recommendation, and lost a lot of money.

Summary: I was expecting more from this book ..
Review: I don't understand the overwhelming high rating for this book. Some of the concepts are there, I don't think they are all there though..

For a book that is claiming to be a 'course', the writing style was too subjective and not scientific. (for example he defines four parameters and gives them greek letters and only uses one ..).

It could well be this is the best book out there I don't know. But chances are one would need more than this book to go through to get the full scope..

If I compare this to the Technical Analysis book by John Murphy for example, that one was a complete joy to read. The author covers all aspects of his topic and makes excellent references to other work. In contrast, this book makes few or no references to other publications taking about options.

In conclusion, I think this is an over-rated book. It probably is worth more than 2 stars, but don't buy it solely based on the reviews on this forum, but try to borrow it first (which I couldn't do) before spending good money on it ..

Summary: Good book to get started in delta trading
Review: Liked the book as it was precise and easy to follow. This man really knows his options and communicates it without all the math that many get stuck on.

The delta section was the reason for my purchase as I was confused after reading other texts how to apply it.

I suppose that after reading many books I found it refreshing that this guy is a full time trader that communicates his ideas to others. Instead of the Cook books this is a real traders guide of how to get started.

I also bought his other books for the online applications of option trading.

I also recommend Sheldon Natenburg's book on Volatility and www.optionanalysis.com for the practical application when you are ready to put it all together.
