Rating: Summary: Don't be misled Review: I bought this off amazon thinking it was Felson's text in new edition. But it was very basic and has these annoying spaces for you to fill in the missing ______________. The missing word is in the margin.
I returned it.
It doesn't have very many images of pathology. I cannot recommend it, even for medical students. If you are a student, I would recommend you approach your radiology department for a tutorial before wasting money on this thing.
Rating: Summary: Makes Reading chest x-rays fun Review: This book is very similar to Dubins(EKG's). It makes the reader an active participant in the reading. The book is do-able. It has lots of examples and I was able to get through it in a less than a week. I am much more comfortable reading chest x-rays after reading this book. I only wish there were more books like this in radiology.
Rating: Summary: The best way to learn to read chest films Review: This is an excellent publication for anyone to learn to read chest radiographs. It provides a thorough method that you can use on each and every film so as not to miss anything. And it's much more clear than any of the lectures that I've ever attended, because the methodology is so sound and complete. This book elucidated many principles that were not covered in my courses, from anatomy on the radiograph that all professors seemed to assume that we know, to more specific signs that no one ever told me to look for.It is "a programmed text" meaning that it is written with fill in the blank sentences with the answer on the sideline, usually such that you can figure out the answer yourself. This not only makes it fun, it also makes it intellectually engaging such that you are forced to think and remember the ideas applied. I highly recommend this book for early in your medical career. Get it early and refer to it often!
