Rating: Summary: A Must Read. Will save you thousands. Review: Very well presented book. He explains technical charts in a clear and simple approach. I am hooked to technical analysis after reading this book. I used to pick stocks based just on fundamental analysis. Now I also look at technicals. I heard about this book from "Damon Vickers" whose radio show gets broadcasted at "businesstalkradio.net" A must read.
Rating: Summary: Pulls it all together Review: What is kinda unique and special about this trading book is how it makes you feel it addresses the whole ball of wax and yet does not shy away from given very particular recommendations. I mean, you can tell the author is very knowledgeable so you can rely more on him than the average stock apostle, and at the same time, he has boiled it down to clear quantitative trading rules. I like that courage. Many authors are either very narrow and passionate (and wrong!) or so wide and general as to be useless. Come to think of it, if you were allowed only one trading book to read in a lifetime, this one would probably be the right choice. What a service to the reader. Thank you Stan.
Rating: Summary: Best book on chart reading for investors Review: What makes this book unique among others is its clarity. Weinstein gives very specific instructions on how to buy and how to sell, with lots of examples. Similar to How to Make Money In Stocks, except that fundamentals are totally eschewed. Weinstein's case is that everything to know about a stock is in the chart, and it's a compelling case at that. Good chapters on shorting stocks and general market indicators as well. Great reading!
Rating: Summary: record of newsletter hurts confidence in book Review: While this book is well-written, the fact that the author's much-ballyhooed newlsetter, "The Professional Tape Reader," consistently is graded as one of the worst stock newsletters for bull market investing, is disappointing. A quick search of the Internet will confirm this for you; it is worth noting that the newsletter gets much higher marks for bear markets.
Rating: Summary: A Very good book Review: Written with humor, this book made me look differently at the market. This book is pure-technical. Very good for people that have behavioral problems when it comes to stocks (like i used to have). It teaches a method which is good for people who rather have a "do or not do" instead of "think for yourself" recipe for success. The only annoying thing is self-promotion and a bit of arrogance by the author, but the new bunch of $$$ in my bank account most certainly make up for this:) Another disadvantage is that this book is not up-to-date. Anyway, i still recommend it as it helped my portfolio a great deal.
Rating: Summary: Timeless Technical Analysis Treatise Review: You can fight with yourself over what the stock market ought to do ... or what a company's stock ought to be doing. You can try to calm your fears by taking comfort in a company's fundamentals ... under-valuations ... low P/Es ... low PEGs ... projected growth ... etc. But, when all is said and done, it doesn't mean squat if the price is not confirming what you think or feel. In short, the "tape" (or chart) does not lie. You can argue with it, but you can't beat it. Whether you choose to fight the tape or follow it, will determine how successful you are in the market. Weinstein shows you how to follow it.
