Rating: Summary: Very Educational Review: This is a great primer for the use of Technical Analysis in stock trading. It gives detailed information on when to buy and better yet, when to sell stocks. The writing style was entertaining, so my interest was maintained even through the most complex explanations. The book does not go into the more advanced analysis tools but for anyone new to Technical Analysis this is a great book.
Rating: Summary: The best trading manual ever. Review: This is the best book on trading techniques that I have ever read. It is based on how to do "stage analysis," that is, looking at charts to determine whether a stock is going up, topping, declining, or bottoming out. The author stresses using stage analysis not only on individual stocks, but also on industry sectors as well as indexes like the Dow and Nasdaq. I recently cashed out of my stocks before the recent Dow and Nasdaq declines, because of the book's tips on how to spot a market top ahead of time. While others were handwringing and gnashing their teeth as the markets plunged, I was very smugly and calmly beginning my second reading of this gem of a book.......Anyone doing trading should know the information in this book....it's very basic, but very intelligently and understandably presented.
Rating: Summary: A must have for investors Review: This is the first book I ever read on the stock market(when it was first published in '88). What a gem it is. You could take any person of reasonable intelligence off of the street and teach them to invest using this winning approach. Just toss in the Marty Zweig Super Model(which is also easy to learn and use)for determining the overall market conditions, and you have the recipe for a lifetime of fine returns in the stock market.
Rating: Summary: Many TA books later, this one still holds up. Review: This is the first technical analysis book that I've read. Many TA books later, this one still holds up as one of the best. Stan Weinstein's text is to the point and illustrated with historical charts. To top it off, each chapter concludes with a helpful quiz. Stay disciplined, read through the text, and finish the quiz. You'll be surprised at how fast you progress. Trading is not simple, but Weinstein manages to present the essentials in a very concise and entertaining manner. I highly recommend Weinstein's text as a first book for absolute beginners, or to round out the rough edges for the experienced speculator. Lastly, I must say that I'm very happy with the price of this book. As someone who purchases many books on stocks, I am always appalled at how overpriced these flimsy volumes have become. Weinstein's book is *well* worth the money.
Rating: Summary: Sound off like you got a pair Review: This may not be the newest book out there, but it's one of the best. It's a great introduction to TA. You'll learn the 4 stages of how a stock trades, and how to take advantage of these stages. If you go and take a TA class at a stock trading school they will talk about the things that are in this book. It's a great place to start. It was coolBig Truck
Rating: Summary: a classic... Review: This was the first technical analysis book I ever read and I just happened to pick it up again after 15 years and it's as valid and relevant today as it was when it was first published. Weinstein was a trailblazer in the field. A book by one of his disciples, Gary Kaltbaum's "The Investor's Edge," is also quite good. I am reading that one now.
Rating: Summary: A big profit maker Review: To anyone who wants to beat the market and improve their success rate by learning and using Technical Analysis this book is a gauranteed way to get started. Its written in simple terms, has excelent examples and offers advice based on time-proven methods. Compared to other similar tomes on this subject it uses no math or formulas but relies on actual charts of stocks. The method teaches how to view price, volume and trend data so that stock picks yield winners 60 to 80% of the time and with gains (for me) 2x to 10x! It also provides lessons on the how to cut losses and how to learn the discipline of selling for maximum profit. This is a book which can (and must) be reread over and over as one gains expertise at Technical Analysis. The methods learned provide logical procedures which eliminate the hype of the stock market and turns the hype into profits. Weinstein's motto of the "Tape Tells All" is the foundation for success because it places stock action as the primary source of information over OPINION.
Rating: Summary: to make a Review: trend strategy work, you need to be trading the right stocks at the right time. "timing" such as what the author focuses on here, is actually not all that important.
Rating: Summary: Solid! Review: Very early in my years, about 10 yrs ago, I came by this book. And till today, I still remember that it had a big impact on my thinking. I dont really remember it like a textbook but the lessons I took from it has somehow shaped my investment thinking in so many ways. It has contributed to a most successful and satisfying career. After more than 10,000 trades , I'd put this in the top 90% of investment books that is in my library, of about 500. If you are just new, dont miss this; if you are older and still willing to learn, this will help gain you a little edge. And in the investment world, that may all be you need to get to that peaceful retirement. Excellent.
Rating: Summary: Love it Review: Very simple book and easy to understand. Everything he says makes sense and works test it out for yourself. Excellent book for investors not daytraders.
