Summary: Best Thing Since Sliced Bread!!
Review: In a recent Maximum Impact message by John Maxwell on "How to Overcome the Six Temptations of Successful Organizations" he acknowledged the source of his message as coming from Dave Anderson's most recent book, "Up Your Business".

I wanted to see what other pearls of wisdom Dave had to share so I bought his book. I was not disappointed! Congratualtions to Dave on a great leadership book!! It is the best thing since sliced bread!!

I especially enjoyed Dave's direct, no nonsense, no-holds-barred style that identifies the entitlement culture that much of our society has bought into and his get-tough advice on how to replace it with a merit culture.

Dave's insights and pearls of wisdom were huge for me as I have more than 38 references penciled in the front of the book that I am taking to the bank.

Summary: It's About Time...and Success
Review: It's about time someone cut through the pablum surrounding sales strategies, tactics, and all the rest and got to the heart of the matter. We have truly met the enemy...and it is US. In 'Up Your Business' Dave Anderson takes the blinders and the gloves off and offers a practical, honest, straightforward guide for effective management in the automotive industry (or any other people/sales/customer endeavor).

In his usual 'tell it like it is' style Anderson has created the BEST management book I've read in over 15 years of directing sales departments in dealerships. Whether your store sells 50 or 1500 cars a month you'll gain some new insights from the book - and you'll walk away with a new and honest appraisal of your own abilities and efforts.

I couldn't recommend the book more. The best part is...Not only will 'Up Your Business' fulfill its title's promise in your business, it's just a flat-out great read!

Summary: "Up Your Business" is for serious managers, not wimps
Review: Just finished reading "Up Your Business" by Dave Anderson on a recent cross-country plane trip. I could not put the book down! Why? Because the book is full of politically incorrect lessons, common sense, and methods that will propel a manager with GUTS to build, stretch, and grow a business in a way that encourages and rewards accomplishment, and plots the path for non-performers to eliminate themselves. In this day of "everyone is wonderful and equal" and the generic ways to manage people that places all employees on the same plane, it is refreshing to see someone write THE MANUAL on how to find, grow, and retain the best employees. I highly recommend this book if you have the guts to hold your people accountable for their actions, and wish to build a team of All-Stars to squash your competition.

Summary: Up Your Business
Review: Once again Dave Anderson hit the mark with his simple, concise HOW TO instructions on Successful Leadership. I consider this his best work yet...it gives many examples of real world leadership challenges and then provides a clear and step by step process for correction/improvement.
The book's organization allows easy reinforcement of essential steps for implementation with a handy "Up your Business! Action Thoughts" caption after each discussion topic. If you are in a leadership role of any kind and want help in how to maintain your intensity, momentum and progress, buy this book. It is simply terrific!

Summary: It's the Bible for successful leadership skills
Review: Simply written, but every word counts. A business book written by someone who has lived by what is preached. Very inspiring... yet "in your face" reality check of what most leaders lack to truly reach thier potential. If you are brave enough to follow the principles laid out in this book, you had better be prepared to deal with success!

Summary: Up Your Business!
Review: This is the first book review I've ever written, but since Dave Anderson's teachings have made a huge difference for our company, I feel compelled to endorse his book. Dave Anderson's book has helped us grow our business tremendously. For example, one idea that Dave gave us was to recruit from our competitor as they were going through a buy/sell. We successfully hired five of their top people! Dave's advice saved us from months of hard work training new people.

All of my managers (25) have read Dave's first book "No Nonsense Leadership: Real World Stategies to Maximize Personal & Corporate Potential", and after having read "Up Your Business", I am buying them all a copy. If you're serious about developing leaders, buy this book and read it.
